Just got some Nokian Hakkepelita WRs installed today, just in time for some snow.

Aftera few hours of cruising around, all I have to say is WOW. This car is amazing with these tires on. Zero understeer, feels SOOOOOO neutral, and the best part is you can step the rear out in pretty much any situation, without even the slightest chance of decreased from grip. It is way more fun, and a hell of alot more controllable than I could have ever expected.

For those looking to buy some snow tires, check these out... they are amazing!

Possibly the greatest winter DD ever.

Im running some nice high performance summer tires...lol Im in hampton (the coast), and we got 10" dumped on us, my helical lsd and my 240 took it like it was nothing...It was kind of funny because my 240 is real low, and has the big mouth shogun bumper so it was basically a snow plow..lol

Yeah, I have some good preformance tires and I do ok on the street. but since I have an open diff, when there is a significant amount of snow, I start getting the one wheel wonder effect and have to dig the tire out. Then the other wheel spins. The cycle continues for hours...One time I loved was when I was stuck in reverse and forgot to take it out of gear, I got out of the car and my drivers rear wheel was not moving, I walk around and the passenger rear wheel was spinning even when the car was just ideling in reverse.

LOL.

I don't think a 215 stretched on a 10 inch wide rim is a good winter combo. I don't care to let my 240 collect salt in the winter. I do like the idea of sliding.

I need new tires for the maxima but I'm holding out as long as possible. I may end up ordering some.

I always top off/fill up the gas tank when I hear were getting some snow as well...Helps get traction over the wheels...

When I was 16 it was my first winter and I had some Kumho ecsta 712's that still had tread but were on their way out and we got some ice and snow while at dinner. I was stopped and had to take a right to go up this hill to the light and since it was an open diff well we know how that goes. I took off fine but started up the hill and then... one wheel spun then the other let go next thing i knowI'm accelerrating and sliding backwards at the same time. Then I tried to stop but she was hell bent on sliding back down to the bottom of the hill. had to have been funny for everyone else to watch.

well last feb, i took the car out to north carolina and had the worst snow experience imaginable. I was about 40 miles out from charlotte and with two other people in the car and a trunk full of luggage and a lovely 2.2 inch drop in the front with some continental contisports, we went through 22 inches on ONE night. Car got stuck at a rest stop and that was it for that night. Open diff of course but i think with 22 inches, it wouldnt really matter what diff or what tires i had.
