I think you should be ok with a 235/40-18, but see if Audtatious chimes in (he's our resident wheel expert).

im looking at either 225/35ZR18 or a 215/35ZR18 tire. i think both of them should fit but the 215's are about $30 cheaper per tire...so thats the size im shooting for. if anyone knows for sure whether these tires will fit please let me know as soon as possible. i really dont wanna spend an extra $120 if i dont have to! any help???

It all depends on what OD your shooting for (lets put load rating aside)...

on a 7.5 in wheel a 245-45 would fit nicely but might be a little tall for what you want... 245-40 could work but youll likely rub.....

225-35 isnt enough tire for the maxima.... it simply wont work, and I wont recommend it.. That kind of rubber band is for a lighter car (probably about 85 load rating, not enough for the maxima)... 225-40 would probably work and is a fairly common/cheap size... 215-45 woudl probably be fine too if your bent on having a 215 width, but I think its a little skinny for a 7.5in wheel...

The main thing is you CANNOT get those little itty bitty sidewalls on such a heavy car and expect your rims to last very long OR to not expect any blowouts. One pothole on a 225-35-18 could very likely mean the end of a rim, and most likely the end of a tire..

im not necessarily bent on any particular size, but i dont want them to look like off-road muddin' tires either. i just want the best size for the lowest price. i found the 225/40YR18's for $145 each which i dont think is too bad. any other suggestions????
