I would wait 1500 miles to really get on it but that is just me. I think at least 1,000???

Other may have a different opinion. Did you read the manual? I can't remember what it says.

A 1,000 miles is typicall for most engines. I see a lot of people wait until 1,000 to really open it up. What you want to avoid doing is driving it at a constant speed for the first 1,000 miles and you don't want to drive it fast (a lot) for the first 1,000 miles. I have always veried the speeds I drive a new engine and that includes a couple of times at 100.

When an engine is new the piston rings and cylinders are still getting to know each other and need a chance to form a nice groove in the cylinder chamber. Another thing you should do after that first 1,000 miles is change the oil and oil filter to get rid of any metal that has been removed by the break in period.
