well i finally got my tien HE's....and they look beautiful!!sadly...the manual is in japanese.....i guess i'll have my dad translate them for me...

i have installed shocks and springs before on honda's and acura's, so i wouldn't have any trouble w/ my girl (95 240sx se), right?

i have never installed coilovers before, so i have a few silly on "how to"questions? 1. to adjust the height, you put the car on a flat level surface and measure from ground to fender, right? 2. is there a factory setting on the damper settings? because i read that if you pass the amount of settings, you can damage the shock3. any advise or recommendation on "how to" or after installs, will be appreciated (i read to drive about 300 to 500 miles before gettingaan alignment, is this correct?)

sorry about the noobie questions.......just damn excited and i just don't want to mess them up. i'll be installing them tonight, it's damn near 102 degrees out here. :angryfire

thanks

When it says "Bump Rubber" does it mean it is a bushing? If it is, can I replace it, with let's say a Cusco Bushing?

hey ladies and gent's.....i've just completed installing my HE's.man they are lovely. i took some pic's and i'll try to write up a "how to" (it was quite easy to install them), but for now need to stay indoors (102 degree outside)...but i'll try to get that done this weekend. as for pics, let me cool off first and i'll try to post some pics (if anybody can tell me how, that would be appreciated)

now, about the HE's......the springs (f 8 and r 6) are definately stiff for street driving that's IMO. even with the damper setting at the lowest. it will take some time to get used to (about another 30min of driving.... :D just got to look out for big bumps and potholes. I haven't done any spirited driving yet, break her in for about 300 miles, then alignment, then i'll let you know. but as for now the ride is harsh, i will getting some track time and drifting next sunday. so i'll let you how that goes to. did anybody hear or going to the hyper-fest event next week? (i'm scheduled on sunday)

MAN....I'M ONE HAPPY GUY!!mike

oh by the way.....as i was removing myy rear shock, noticed that you can't just bolt on a rear strut bar! so do you drill a hole big enough to slip the bar through?

I personally would not recomend the lowest damper setting on your HEs. I had mine in for about a month on a setting of 11 clicks soft and it was too bouncy. I cranked up the damper to 7 clicks soft and its much better! You need those dampers to control that hard spring rate. When I go to the track I turn the damper all the way hard! Just sharing what worked out for me. Enjoy your new suspension!

voltron...that's exactly what i think.....that stock does look the best!i'm kool with body kits, but not the crazy looking one's. as long as it flows with the lines of the car then i'm all for it. but then again i like the old school look, when they had just the front bumper on :boink

dennis...let me know what he gives you so at least i'll know if he's hooking me up....i saw a post somewhere, where he got his $1300 shipped....i try to find it and let you know....

if you are in the LA area hit up http://www.turboevo.com i paid cash and got a way better deal than what people mentioned above. they are stiff for street but i run them at 12 front and 10 rear. thats 4 clicks from full stiff in front. they fell much better when you turn them up, at low settings they were just too underdamped. they do just bolt up but i had a shop align them and check my work. one uppermount was lose and the spindle wasnt tight enough, good thing to check before you drive 300 miles! fun stuff, corners like on rails now. i do need rear control arms to get rid of my 3 degrees of camber though, ha!

Unless I am mis understanding you, I think you have the damper settings backwards. 0 clicks is full stiff, 16 clicks is full soft. Turn your damper knob all the way right untill it can't go anymore, thats full stiff. 12 clicks out is really soft.

i have it right. full clockwise is full stiff and is called level 16. 4 clicks from full stiff (level 12) would be 4 clicks counter clockwise away from the max.

i did have it wrong the first time though :) i was like WTF!?

install is easy. get the english install instructions off of their website. get a tape measure to check that they are set up properly before you bolt them in. un bolt the old stuff (spring compressor helps get the old out), bolt in the new stuff. check the torque specs in the FSM. tighten it down. dont forget the bolt holding the whole thing together. this thing will spin the whole shaft if you dont use an impact gun or grip the shaft somehow. adjust dampening to somewhere in the middle when you tighten it down because if it starts to spin it will spin the dampening adjustment as well. if you push the dampening adjustment past its max there is a good chance you could break it. adjust the dampening to full clockwise and then back off a few clicks. i like running 12 front (4 clicks back) 10 rear (6 clicks back). camber plates will fix your camber in the front. the rear is fuct. you will need adjustable rear control arms to adjust rear camber. you could slot the stock control arms but they could crack, break, and are a pain to adjust. take the car to a GOOD alignment shop and have them check everything.

there is a nut that screws in the top that holds the whole coilover assembly together.buy adjustable rear arms from anyone you like. projectsilvia.com seems to be cheapest. cusco is more expensive but probably nicer. sounds like you are gona have a nice lookin car with nothing to back it up. as long as your spending 2-3k on it get an sr or rb20. ca18 is cheap too.
