Late one evening a friend of mine, who lives in FLA, called and had me speak to a professor from his school. This professor is also a Q owner, he told me about this site and I registered that very night. Ever since signing up I have gotten so much invaluable information, that I now plan on keeping my car for the unforseen future. You see before meeting you guys I had planned on selling the car. I ordered the active to standard suspension conversion kit and power steering pump with a belt (Joe told me that the only difference between the regular pump and that for a car with the active suspension was just a belt) from Joe over a Infiniti of Scottsdale, but just my luck the stock springs were on back order. After waiting for about 3 weeks for them to get the springs in, I decided to go with the eibach pro springs. I got the eibachs from the boys over at Southwest Auto Works; they had the cheapest price that I could find.
All the work was done by my mechanic. The suspension was converted without a hitch, the power steering pump on the other hand was more of hassle than originally thought. I had to get brackets from a junked Q in order to have the pump mounted. I also had to buy 2 hoses (one costing $200) from my local infiniti dealer. I was also told that my brake pads were bad and needed to be replaced. Now that all the work has been done, I can happily say; "Cost of active suspension kit (w/eibachs): $1000, cost of standard power steering pump and everything needed to mount it: $650, cost of brake pads: $160, cost of labor: $480, driving home in my Q: PRICELESS."
