Thanks to this forum, I finally have my 94 q45a back on the road. The car had been parked since about August; The power steering pump died and the active suspension had seen better days. :(Late one evening a friend of mine, who lives in FLA, called and had me speak to a professor from his school. This professor is also a Q owner, he told me about this site and I registered that very night.

Ever since signing up I have gotten so much invaluable information, that I now plan on keeping my car for the unforseen future. You see before meeting you guys I had planned on selling the car. I ordered the active to standard suspension conversion kit and power steering pump with a belt (Joe told me that the only difference between the regular pump and that for a car with the active suspension was just a belt) from Joe over a Infiniti of Scottsdale, but just my luck the stock springs were on back order. After waiting for about 3 weeks for them to get the springs in, I decided to go with the eibach pro springs. I got the eibachs from the boys over at Southwest Auto Works; they had the cheapest price that I could find.

All the work was done by my mechanic. The suspension was converted without a hitch, the power steering pump on the other hand was more of hassle than originally thought. I had to get brackets from a junked Q in order to have the pump mounted. I also had to buy 2 hoses (one costing $200) from my local infiniti dealer. I was also told that my brake pads were bad and needed to be replaced. Now that all the work has been done, I can happily say; "Cost of active suspension kit (w/eibachs): $1000, cost of standard power steering pump and everything needed to mount it: $650, cost of brake pads: $160, cost of labor: $480, driving home in my Q: PRICELESS."

great write-up wes!!!!! good to hear you Q is up and running again, and you're right, there is nothing better than a full-on Q experience!!!!! if you ever need it (although your labor $$$ wasn't too bad) there is an independant master infiniti tech, very familiar w/ our beloved Q's, over in jersey. very reasonable and knowledgable.

again, great to hear about your Q!!!!!

I just noticed that both my slip and traction control lights come on and stay on. It does not happen all the time though...does anyone know if this has anything to do with the suspension conversion?

I wouldnt think it would have anything to do with it, however they may have had to unplug some wires to do the job.... my bet is something didnt get plugged in, or is very loose....

Your slip and traction lights are coming on becuse the relays are bad or corroded. They are located underneath the battery tray and cost about $25 to replace. And you do not have operational traction control when they are lit. If it doesn't happen all the time it almost has to be the answer, and it is probably unrelated to your other repair. Although any thing is possible if they were working near them.
