Welp just came back from the dealership, after looking for a car for few months I finally got my first car. (im 19) anyway it's a 1993 j30. It had 122k miles on it. Maintained pretty good. I will post pics very soon. Just want to clean it up take it to the wash and what not. But I did have some questions I'm not sure if it pertains to the infinity. Included I got the ignition starter and the remote control locking mechanism. Anyway I don't know how to use it neither did the dealership anyone know how I should get like the manual it has no name on it accept for " 2 way auto plus" on it. It's almost identical to this http://www1.omnitel.net/gdj777/prod06.htm But besides that I just wanted to welcome my self to the forum and hope to learn more things, because as this is my first car not too much of a car geek as I would like to be. If you need any more info please ask me :) but pics will be coming soon :]

nice J but i think infiniti center caps would look better than lexus center caps. Check out car-part.com and see if they have em if you want.

Sorry about that, I paid $2500 + 300 for taxes and etc.. $2800, it has a few scratches needs a paint job in my opinion. Leather is a little torn on the drivers door, but nothing big major to fix. People tell me it's a nice price...

Again I'm still a newbie to cars in general, I'm learning everyday today I learned what a timing belt is and I'm guessing it's cause my car to shake when I 'm at the light( idles) but knowledge isnt learned in a day...Anyways ya the lexus thing does look weird to me , but right now Im going to college and Im broke so it will have to wait :) any more suggestion, to make this car good, I'm taking it for a tune up and etc.. My father knows a good mechanic so I can get the hook up.,But I would like to know what I can do to make it look better but mostly run better. Thanks!

Use duct tape to cover the Lexus emblems right away.

Then, do a search. Loads and loads and loads of good stuff. There is so much good stuff on this site(well, maybe there is a little crap;) that if you could read it all, you would know alot about cars. Tires, load limits, suspension, oil, transmission, DIY tricks, symptoms, maintenance, gasoline, octane, VLSD differentials, timing, knock sensors, O2 sensors, MAF sensors, useless mods, exhausts, etc., etc, etc. Almost anything Q45tech has responded to or started. Deals, service alternatives, insurance, accident claims, blown engines.

Maybe the most fun are the Infiniti Speeding Stories.

You car shaking isn't your timing belt, i was told no matter how badly you need a timing belt your car never FEELS any different(until you blow your motor). With 122k on your car it's time to start thinking about getting your belt replaced, i had my J30 go in for tensioner, water pump, 3 other related belts, and of course my timing belt for $700, im sure it could have been a little less or a LOT more. Either way, take it somewhere you trust.

P.S. don't mess around with your timing belt, if it goes unreplaced you can REALLY do some expensive damage to a car that you don't want to pay major breakdowns on.

P.S.S. I think you'll find that people here dont' have anything against lexus perse'. But i DO now that when seeing another Infiniti on the road, a smile or wave is often exchanged. See if Lexus drivers have the same bond.

I concur. However, I thought that this site was to remain more or less apolitical. Your avitar?
