hi guys my names matt, and i just got my silver 96 j30 from my dad, and i love it. i was just wondering what would be one of the first things i should do to it, i was thinking on taking it to a custom exhaust place near my town. i'd want to have them weld on dual borla universal exhaust tubing along with two borla spitfire mufflers. i was also wondering what i would do in terms of rear bumper fabrication to fit an extra muffler, but hit me back im really looking forward to learning from you guys thanks

Welcome to NICO.

To answer your questions, the exhaust will cost you a good amount. Lots of pipe bending etc.

About the second exhaust Ill let diamondJ30 chime in or any of the guys with true duals.

How many miles etc?

my j has about 120k miles on it, it was taken to the shop to have the timing belt replaced, and a tune up and such. my dad also said a sensor had to be fixed in the car i dont remember what though but he had to get the parts from japan, my dad was sayin he might as well get me a honda

i'd rather drive a j over anything..almost anything

Welcome to NICO!!!

If you haven't already, check out the J30 Faq's "stuck" thread at the top of this forum.

Dual pipes shouldn't be a problem on your vintage of J. They are a problem on the '93 and '94 "t" models with Hicas.

There is a place up here that does custom bumper covers for dual exhause. They are actually an auto company that does plast form mouldings for some GM vehicles. They've diversified and do this on the side. I'll have to go through the stacks of business cards I have and provide you a contact if you want it? I have no idea on price.

i know you must've been asked this a million times, but it'd be clutch if you could tell me what you think of a motor swap instead of an exhaust-vg30dett?-vq30det?-vh41de(tt?)-vh45de(tt???)

thanks man

Heres the deal... Your stock pipes are liekly going to be big enough for anything staying N/A... Just weld new muffs into your stock pipes....... Use a dual in dual out borla in the rear, and eliminate the premufflers..... Thats the way to go IMO.

VG30DETT is by far the easiest swap to do.
