Me and my parents went car shopping today for my birthday and we decided on getting a 2005 G35 Sedan for me. I have not really had that much of a chance to drive it other than test driving and from the dealership home (as it was around 10 when we purchased it) and i have to say i love it very much. Its black with a cool looking spoiler on the back. We went to a restaurant and it drew a lot of attention as people saw me playing with the keys and such. As a new proud owner of this car is there any thing i should know specifically? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Nico! Congrats on the new car, but realize that you are now in control of a couple thousand pound piece of moving metal.

Ahh yes the first car, and it is a G35 sedan... glad to have you in family my friend.

Welcome to baller status!

Owning such a nice vehicle such as the G35 can cause many symptoms, such as:

-Increased attention from female organisms-Lead Foot syndrome-Assuming that you are a young, dashing fellow such as myself... a well due respect upgrade from people that significantly older than yourself

There is no cure for these symptoms, so my advice is to enjoy the car and of course be safe.

Welcome to Nico... brother...

I salute you

Welcome to NICO

You are very lucky to receive such a fine first automobile. I guess your parents own an oil well or something? My first car was a POS 1958 Ford. BTW, don't take this the wrong way. I'm married to a former English teacher. Your opening sentence should have been "My parents and I went car shopping today........" You can always write an essay on your experience with your first car? What you should know about a G35 is that this is a very powerful and fast automobile. Don't get sucked into proving just how fast and powerful it is with some of your less fortunate friends driving Fords and other assorted POS on public roads.

Good luck

ya i am so excited, thanks for the welcome guys. We are going to go driving to the mall so i can get in a bit more practice ( i don't even get my license till July 30th) There were TONS of people looking at that car and this was the only good used one we found. I will post pictures when we get back. Also what is the best thing to use to clean the exterior of the car? My cat has found a liking to it and made it really gross. It is black so its really noticeable too. Thanks

Welcome to NICO, and congrats on the new and first car

I had a $600 1985 Plymouth Horizon for my first car...I was happy to get it though! Check out my sig for the G-series FAQ for mod ideas and answers to most questions.

Treat the G with respect, and happy cruising

If you need the practice, looks like you need to practice your parking...you're in there a little sideways.

Welcome to NICO and congrats on the new ride!!

Soooo...what would you like us to help you mod first?

BTW... if this is your first black car...may I suggest washing it in sections, starting with the roof. Buy yourself a great lambskin chamois, do not use dishsoap and always dry in 1 direction, not circles.

G35 for a first car ?!?!?!

Good for you. Do yourself a favor and take good care of it. Most everybody I know had their only accidents in their first car.

It's not generaly recommended as you can strip the wax and the natural protection paint has. Especially on a black ar.. you want as much polish and wax as possible.

Stop using dish soap! We only use that to de-wax a car, not to wash it.

To get some good car wash. Some good wax and take care of your cars. No G until you get it right!!! lol. J/K. I used to use dish soap too until I learned better.

To the OP,

Nice first car. I hate you, but nice first car lol. I wanted an 03 G coupe as a first car, but it wasn't going to happen. Ended up buying my moms I30 and modding the hell out of it. I'm glad I did. I would have killed the G.

Black is a PITA to keep clean. Swirls show easier, dust shows, bird poop shows, cat prints show...lol

I would make it a habit of washing weekly if you have the time. Wax as often as you want. You can buy a California Duster for in between washes when she's just dusty.

I would get some serious driving time behind the wheel before doing any traffic driving. Once you think you've got it down, do that same amount of driving again. Then maybe you'll be ready.

I'd keep the VDC on until you can open her up in a WIDE OPEN space with NO TRAFFIC.

Congrats and welcome!

yea i tried washing today before i read all these posts, and i didn't use soap or anything (wtf? lol am i retarded) but i think i made it worst because all the cat hair and stuff she does on their made it really nasty. And what does VDC stand for? oh yea and i forgot to post this but i still have my permit for 30 more days so i can't drive by myself yet. Also im going to get a job soon and save up some money to mod my car but i don't really know what i could put on it. I am set for college ( my parents toke care of that) so i can use a good amount.

Just make sure you respect the power of the car, a couple years ago I saw a 16 year old kid given a 97 M3 at my high school when he still had his permit and everyone saw him drive it hard and we all said its a matter of time before he wraps it (roads are all curves and hills where I am) and what do you know, in a week the car is wrapped around a telephone pole and the frame was bent.

Well first off congrats... you are very lucky... My first car was 2100 bux and a 1992 Cadillac Seville with a 5.0 V8 (very nice car but got about 10mpg... gas was only a 1.60 when I started driving!)

We have matching cars! I love the black and you will too! You need to keep lots of wax on it!

Don't worry about your mods... we have them planed out for you! Get a job and we will help you spend your money. Also you want to put a picture in your signature so that you have like a trade mark like we all do!

From what i see you have a bast model and no sport package. I don't think it has the premium because the back seats don't recline. I am also guessing that you have the auto!

Good luck with her and your first mod has to be a coupe mid pipe! That way the car will be a little louder, you lose about 30 lbs in body fat, and you probably gain about 5-10hp

Oh and you have to Tint the windwos to 15% all the way around! Looks so hot! (that is what i have on mine!)

[QUOTE=Bigjoe347what does VDC stand for? [/QUOTE]

VDC= Vehical Dynamic Control.

A sudden change in surface consistency can affect your car's stability during evasive driving. Vehicle Dynamic Control* uses various sensors to help determine your steered path and keep you in control. If your vehicle begins to understeer (plow forward) or oversteer (fishtail), VDC applies appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels and/or reduces engine output to help keep your vehicle on its steered path.

*Infiniti VDC system is designed to help improve driving stability, but does not prevent accidents due to abrupt steering or by careless or dangerous driving techniques. Always drive safely.

That is how we roll!

Oh and the First thing that has to go is the Auto tag on the front! If you don't have to put a tag in the front of the car... Take it off! If you do have to have one... Get a nice trim plate to go around it!

Here are a few good pics with the tint done! Get 15% all the way around!

Here are a few before i had it done!

I vote that we change Tampa's custom title to "Photo Whore"

And we start a paypal collection to get him some suspension to lose that wheel

Who's with me?

Lol. J/K.
