I bought a 1986 Nissan 3.0 N/e about 175,000 on it. I got new timing belt, water pump, radiator, struts, shocks, exc.... My mechanic told me my computer was on test mode and he took it off of it the best he could he said it will never b the same since it was on test mode so long, and the computer was changed at sopme point. Also he told me to look over the injection system. My car has a rough idle when warming, and when I'm stopping at a stop sign it seems that the car shuts down for a blink of a second resetting my radio and shutting off my lights and the motor slightly goes off and back on again all in a split second. Is it my ecu? Or injectors? Or what.I had a 92 probe valcan 3.0 and it did the same thing and i changed the ignition coil and ecu and ran perfect. Please help me out guys.oh ya what are the symptoms of the maf sensor

Thanx alot, Kevin

um, I think your mechanic is full of it, I have never heard of leaving an ecu in test mode being any problem at all, and I I recall on the z31 it automatically leaves test mode when you turn the key off

and on the rough idel when warming up, check the CHTS (cylinder head temp sensor) it's in the base fo the drivers side head on the front of the engine, also might want to check the FICV (fast idle control valve)

alright what if its a different computer. Cause i know that the Probe i had had a bad computer and it would shut down like this car does, but the probe would almost die out this car only does it for a blink of a second, but u can notice cause radio and everything goes off and resets lights go off for a second and motor shuts down but only for that second and its really making me frustrated now.

Just give me some ideas what I could be looking at.

kinda sounds like a common grouns issue? or perhaps one of the main power feed relays? maybe even the ignition switch?

Look for a bad connection. Either around the battery, alternator, fusible links, etc. The ECU doesn't have any control over anything but the engine. So if your radio resets and your dash dies, it is not ECU related.

No. It isn't the ECU. The radio and lights have absolutely NOTHING to do with the ECU. So them being affected means it HAS to come from somewhere else. An incorrect ECU will make the car run poorly at all times, not just decide to cut out once in a while.

Try the classifieds, e-bay, or other Z site classifieds.

Was that English? God I hate people who are too lazy to attempt to spell out 1st grade words like "ANY". This is a message board, not a text message to your homies.

lol, AZ is right, the ecu has nothing to do with any of the other systems, if the car runs fine, then the ecu should be ok, I'd start looking for ground issues

Well it's pretty obvious you dropped out of school before learning it there. So we'll help you on this message board with that as well.

And the truth is, YOU should be worried about how you want to type. No one will take you seriously if you can't form complete sentences and use even the most basic of grammar.

If you expect any more intelligent answers, you'd actually try not to sound ignorant. Most people aren't receptive to people who don't even attempt to sound professional. If people have to go out of their way to try to understand you, they generally ignore you.

Yeah. For me too. But we aren't talking a thesis paper. We're talking basic education. You know. Something a 16 year old should be able to grasp by now.

I didn't realize spelling the words "YOU", "ARE", "FOR", "TWO", "BECAUSE", etc were such and advanced level.

damn right. i can live with no capitals and/or no apostophies but cutting words down to save you time but still take the same amount of time as just writing the damn word like "n/e" is f^@king DUMB!!!!!!!!!! Just press a, then n, followed by y. had hard is that. it takes the same time to write as n/e but yet people can understand "any" quiker than "n/e". Looks like your the minority here so don't reply to this bisnitch.

PS not you az

you know what. I AM a d!ck, I HAVE a d!ck, and I USE my d!ck thank you very much. At least i can write so everyone can understand me. Like AZ said. People don't really take you seriously if you don't take the time to write propperly. Take it from someone who knows from experience. I used to write exactly like you do. the reason i dont anymore is because people kept bitching to me telling me they couldn't understand. Think about it. Your asking people for advice about a car. If you write the way you do, people are going to think you are 1) 12years old, 2) dont even have the car your talking about, and/or 3) someone with no form of prior schooling. So please do us all a favor and spell it out. It's easy once you get the hang of it. You never know, you might even enjoy it.

PS: I didn't mean to sound like a d!ck. I had a few beers to go with my fireworks. So, I'm Sorry
