Hi. I got a Gray 1991 240SX SE Hatchback. Apparently the previous owner didn't take good care of this one since he had the engine replaced. Also after I got it I noticed one of the tail lights was leaking so much it was creating pool of water where the spair tire is mounted. So I ended up resealing the tail light, replaced the hatch gasket, got both rear seat belt buckles (he didn't have them in the car), replaced the driver's seat belt buckle (was replaced with the wrong one), and grinded off the rust where the spaire tire mounts then painted over it. I'm going to end up getting another engine for the car anyway since when he put this one in he didn't put it in right. The engine pretty much leaks oil everywhere. I don't know how I didn't see this before I bought it but in the end it really doesn't matter to me. I'm planning on importing the front clip of a Silvia with an SR20DET Blacktop, then swapping out both the engine and the transmission. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to it after that. Sorry if this was a little long winded.

welcome to the forums, and congrats on getting a 240. =)

sounds like you've got some work ahead of you. nothing that people on here haven't done though, so i'm sure you can find the help you need.

what did you reseal the hatch with, or where did you get it done/how much did you pay? mine leaks a little.

that rust, however, will almost definitely come back to haunt you. i had rusty bolt holes in my hatch and grinded off all the rust, coated it in rustoleum, patched it with sheet metal, and bondo'd it before i had the hatch repainted, and within a year the rust was bubbling back up all over the hatch. =X it's yucky.

thanks for the welcome. All the resealing work I did myself. I went to a junk yard for a hatch gasket and took one off of a junked 240 (the junkard was a U Pull It, cost me 10 bucks). Then resealed the taillight with automotive Caulk (don't know where or how much the Caulk was since my father handed me some). But I did notice that where the welds under the hatch gasket is attached were broken "I could bend them a little". Mine leaked between them. So I stuffed some of the caulk in the weld "don't know if I'll regret it or not" Doing that sealed up the leaking hatch gasket.

As for the rust. I know it's going to keep coming back. I also own a 1989 F-150 which had rust in the rear wheel wells. First time I fixed it I cut out the rust and welded in fresh metal. Second time was a cut and fill in "with body puddy". The rust came back again after that and I haven't messed with it since. I'm prolly gona end up cutting it out again, this time the whole fender. I might be able to buy one and weld that in.

Welcome to NICO. Always great when a new member introduces himself. Anyways. Im Pat aka "Jager" to everyone on here. I drive a Black 91 Hatch with Gold S12 Wheels. I did the shaving of the spoiler myself too. I bought mine with alot of problems too and i've had to fix them as i went along. It sucks but in the end it makes ya feel good.
