read up on the timing chain issue, as that could be the most severe.

Its always a good idea to change the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, change the oil and oil filter, transmission fluid, Diff fluid (even though you dont have an lsd), flush the coolant, brake fluid. pretty much any fluid you can think of.

are there any wierd issues with it? any noises? tell us more about it.

I cant think of any rebuild "kit"

when you say kit, what parts are you thinking the kit would include?

ok then the coolant should be fine. change the oil, and check it often to see if the level goes down, clean the dirty area and see if oil gets on it again quickly.

It wouldnt surprise me if it was just really dirty, the car is 17 years old.

courtesyparts, nissanparts. check out the nico sponsors. (the links on the right of the page)

it shouldnt be too hard to find a complete gasket set, but you probably wont need to tear into the motor and replace the pistons or anything.

do a compression test.

If you really want to, you could find another motor, rebuild it with all new oem parts, (or buy a new motor $$$$$$$$$$$) and put it in and it would be just like new. either way that would cost you a good bit.

go do a compression check on it and if its fine then....your motor is probly fine. "if it aint broke dont fix it." KA24's can run for a very long time without breaking down.

But, when they break down, they take everything with it, including the wallet. Then all that is left is a dull pain in the bum
