just picked up my ca18 clip last week, ive got the motor out of the car, and on an engine stand, i jus gotta figure out some stuff, mainly with the secondary injectors, and rebuild it with a new turbo, hopefully i can still use the kick *** equal length turbo manifold, i hop i only have to move the wastegate.

*edit* how much did you pay for that beast? and does it have anything done internally? forged pistons, cams, etc...

That manifold is the first thing I noticed.. I was like.. umm that looks a little "round" WOW.. any idea who's it is? Looks like a production piece not a one off sheetmetal unit. VERY cool! The more I went through those pics the more I said.. "damn.. lucky!" hehe.

Hey who'd you get it from anyways? Did they say anything about it being heavily modded? How'd the compression check go?

Sweet buy, no doubt! Be nosy and look under the valve covers. With that much modification, it has to have some camshafts and other goodies. But it would make me wonder, how mush abuse did this engine take before they put the car down? IMHO, it took a good whackin', but the parts make up for it.

holy sweet merciful lord why didnt mine come with that kind of stuff on it. i would slit someone's throat for an engine that decked out. how much did it run you? t looks like its making a buttload of horsepower. be sure to get it dynoed when its in and running. ill bet your surprised as hell, that engine looks built to the hilt and then some. god this got me excited..good luck and congradulations you lucky bastad!

if you want to unload some of that awesome stuff, just let me know, im here and waiting. haha. who am i kidding, im broke as ****e!

well ive got the valve covers off, the cams look like stock ones to me,might be regrinds. ill take some pics, the pistons and rods also look a bit stock to me. ill post up some more pics tonight of the insides, i havnt yet removed the head, and i dont really know of the results on the compression test, i only know the car was not in an accident, i saw all the body panels in the crate. and the odometer only has 68052 km on it. when i heard about it, they claimed it makes around 450ps. the intake manifold is a one off it looks like, custom surge tank on the stock runners with secondary injectors controlled by a old hks rebic 2. the main injectors look to be stock 370cc. im having the injectors flow tested to find out exactly how big they are. the exhaust manifold is nice. but the waste gate is all the way down by the frame rail, it accually is a little lower cuz the adjustment screw on the bottom is bent over from the car bottoming out, and its a sard, so its pretty nice, the turbo is a IHI with a pretty small exhaust side, and a pretty large intake side, should make for some quick boost. the clip came pretty complete, missing only the intercooler and piping, it also had 5 autometer gauges installed where the radio normally lives. and the a/c controls were relocated to the center vents, this car also had fully operational a/c, it is still charged with freon. unfortunatly the gauges were taken off by the shop i got it from cuz they wanted them, they also werent gonna give me the vpc, fcon GCC or the rebic with the clip, but with a little perswasion and a couple "this is bull****" 's i got a hold of the other electronics. and the clip was picked up for 2800$ kinda high, especially because they took a couple things. im gonna have a talk with them this week about the internals, maybe pick up some extra stuff since the internals dont look to be as built as they had claimed, this car was tuned by autobase automotive engineering, the badges are on the core support, and on the dash. over all its a pretty nice motor, i need a intercooler, piping and a oil cooler, to complete it, but no big deal, im looking at a gtr intercooler with eastbear piping, and maybe a generic oil cooler, the lines and sandwich are already on the motor.

After you mention it.. and I got back and look at the pics (last time I glanced through em) the manifold does look very "home grown".. yet very quality job. I love the plumbing job on the bottom injectors..

Turbo manifold looks kinda home grown too.. but very nice. .thick eh? Might want to have that sucker prepped and coated before you put it back in. Looks clean.. very clean motorset.. sucks hard they jacked you outta the gauges.. not so bad since you ended up getting the electronics. but still! Hmmm they at least leave the brackets/mounting pieces for the gauges?

good to know it didnt just turn up when you ordered a ca clip for 1800 bucks. that makes me feel better, but still. you got an awesome motor there, let me know what else you find hidden in it.
