the best thing to do is to sell the n/a and buy a turbo, decent turbo cars can be had for only a few grand these days

if you must swap your chassis it's much easier if you can locate a complete donor car, you'll need:front crossmemberoilpanturboturbo manifolddownpipeoil linescoolant lines if you get one with a watercoled center sectionmafair ductinginjectorsecu

it's easier to just get a turbo car, but I did swap mine, see the link in my sig, of course I started with a $200 car

I fixed it for you.

lol, unless oyuare 16 the insureance isn't much different, a 20 somethgin year old sprots car taht can be outperformed by a modern minivan isnt't the biggest rick on the road

and a lto fo them do suffer form rust btu for a few grand you can get one that doesn't, maybe you need to look further south of CT, he's in NC so I'm gonna guess rust isn't as much fo a problem

The difference in insurance between my 1984 NA and my 1984 turbo was $25 every 6 months. And that was on the comprehensive. So most likely because of the t-tops. The liability part of the insurance was exactly the same.

I was paying about $120 a month for my 87NA whereas a guy one year older than me was paying $98 a month for his 85T. That was at 16, price didn't go down when I turned 19. I don't currently have the f***er insured.

I personally think it is better to turbo the NA. You will make more power on stock boost settings due to the higher compression in the NA engine.

Oh, you also don't need the turbo MAF. The NA MAF will work fine.

doah! so the maf's are the same, I'm nto running one so I wouldn't know:)

turbo n/a's actually feel slower imho, I had a turbo'd turbo motor before popping ti and swappign int he n/a block, I guess the increased bottom sort of decreases the angle of the hp curve, and yes the n/a will make a small amount of additional power due to compression ratio but it's not really noticible

Before you worry about a Turbo you probably need to get the timing belt, water pump all refreshed. If the previous owner hasn't done this your way overdue...even if they did it and the car is not due to get this done by mileag (every 60k) you should do it at least every 10 years or so. I had only 20k on my Z's timing belt after doing it around 147k but 10 years later everything was in bad shape. New timing belt, water pump, cam seals, new hoses and belts were required to get things back to goodness.

You should be more worried about that than putting a turbo charger on the car.

There was speculation long ago that the mafs were different between turbo and non turbo z31's. I believe it was when Nistune came out that people discovered that it did not matter which one you had.

Personal experience... I put my turbo maf on my friends NA just to get him by for a few days. He did not notice ANY difference in the behavior of the car.

lol, well thats one way to find out, nissan seems to like to assign different part numbers to the same part adding to the confusion, the Z32 n/a and TT have different part #'s and prices for COP's btu they are functionally the same
