hay everyone..i just got my first car..its a 1992 240sx..ive done alot of research on them the engine everything..the motor i have was out of timng was put on perfectly and i found out i have a bad piston... i dont wanna have to rebuild everything because if i do im gonna want to go all out..instead my homeboi who is an amatuer drifter and mechanic is a close friend he is gonna get me a stock motor and tweak it up for me and put alittle power but not much cause he says im only 16 and i cant handle all the power..i wanted to buy his high compression ka24de with sohc internals but he thinks its 2 much for me...anyways..wat im trying to get at is should i keep my motor and let my car sit and rebuild it or should i get this motor from him and start working on this i can handle in my budget like coilovers headers exhaust fuel management......hes selling me the motor for $350 and im gonna give him my ef'd up motor as a trade for installing the motor and wiring it instead of paying him cash

SOHC pistons in a DOHC motor do increase compression..... But minimally

First, go back and edit your bois and wats to English, its painful. Second, if your engine has bad piston damage then get a new engine, you can pick up a KA24de here on Nico or local for 100-300 bucks. Check compression before you buy, and freshen it up with a gasket set.

If it lots of maintenance I would not do it....just find a regular KA engine in good shap and build the rest of the car.

ahhh... I remember when I was sixteen, thought I knew everything but in trueth did not know jack, did more damage than good 240's are great first car to learn things, I had to do it on a regal T-type turbo 84 and an 80 caprice 2-door big-block, it was not fun most of the time. Ka24de are cheap, simple and strong motors, very torquey. But running SOHC internals that I must disagree, SOHC rods and pistons are even weaker. Don't freak out when things go wrong, just analyze, weigh options and do study things carefully. things will go wrong, if your not up for it then lease a new sentra or something, otherwise good luck and keep the racing off the streets

i will definately keep it off the streets...orlando motor speedway isnt to far and niether is cfrc... the motor is coming with

new head gasketrod bearingsshaved headclevite 77 bearings2 exhaust camsretard timing by 3 teethsohc pistons...only $400 for the motor and im giving him my motor and ac for him to install and wire it..i dont use ac because my contacts dry up and is not safe...

Edit..i guess people with high compression use e85 fuel..i just found i live 10 seconds from a pump with e 85 and didnt even no it..$2.24//anything else i need

i honestly dont think that youll need to run higher octane gas because there is sohc parts in the ka...

the engine may have high compression but it doesnt have a high compression ratio, and by the sound of the build that your friend did on the motor its just a motor w/ new bearings and a new head gasket w/ a resurfaced head...

but i say buy it cuz its only $350 but you probably wont feel any difference with the new motor and a non rebuilt one
