One of our fellow members answered your questions for you already, I will elaborate just a bit. It is a rather simple mod to tap a DVD player into the back of the DVD drive for the NAV system. You would then be able to purchase a DVD player and play the movies on the front NAV screen and still retain the Navigation function as well. I did this on my '04 QX56 that I previously owned, the only thing that was different is that I had the factory DVD player already in the vehicle.
