Yep.
Honestly, my opinion is that the fans in the 360 are adequate, but they are all alone and need friends. I have a small 3 inch desk fan next to my 360 that blows air behind it. The problem (and even the intercooler documentation mentions this) with the stock 360 fans is that they don't stop the console soaking in it's own discharged heat. They move air out of the console but no further, so the console ends up sitting in a hotspot in the room (especially if it's in an entertainment center). Moving the hot air discharged by the 360's fans away from the system so that cool air can move in and take it's place is the best way to improve the existing fans' performance. Remember cooling is a temperature equalization so the cooler the incoming air supply, the more you can cool the device with that air. It's kind of the same principle as laptop cooling trays: you're just optimizing the device's location for getting rid of heat...without having to make any changes to the built-in heat management system.
I picked up one of these intercooler TSs and I think I'll take it back. It's really, really, TERRIBLY loud and it never turns off. I thought the thermostat would have it turning on for a few minutes, then shutting off. But it just turns on and stays on.
My $5 desk fan is quieter (big slow fan instead of tiny fast fans) and moves a lot more air.
