Just got me a valve cover and am going to bead blast then polish to put into my baby. Question is does anybody have any suggestions about what to do to clean what i am going to see when i take that cover off? I figure if i can do something that will help the car when i take that cover off it will be worth it. Let me know.

well, cleaning is easy.use carb and choke cleaner to take of the grime, and then use simple ggreen and a bruch to clean out the crevices and anything left over.

blast, and paint/polish :)

main thing to do is to keep track of the bolts, and not let them fall into the motor ;) otherwise unless you are replacing more parts there isn't much you can do but check tightness on bolts :)

nice:cool: My valve cover gasket replacement was a nightmare. the screws striped out the threads on the head. Broke the T junction to my Injen short ram which by the way can be picked up at your local ACE. And when i went to move the fuel rail by unbolting it the metal supports that conneted it twisted rather than the bolt turning. Its probably just because im a cluts. Good Luck

I have the same problem with stripped valve cover bolt threads, can you run a tap through them to fix the threads up, or can you helicoil the damaged thread?

how about using these aluminum welding rods to fill in the stripped holes, then drilling/ tapping them to the original size bolt/thread pitch?

I wouldn't bother...

Use a Hielcoil and be done with it.....it will be stronger and probably last longer than your car!
