Guys

Just got back from a dyno session @ sound performance in chicago

I maxed out the injectors, and I think I've reached the limitations of the stock ignition system. I'm hoping thats why it hiccuped a little around 7400

Final Pull was at ~24-25 psi, it spiked a little and then fell off

Final numbers:

718rwhp
587rwtq

Here's a link to the dyno chart (you can zoom in on it)

http://www.booztd3.com/Pictures/Dyno_Ch ... _25psi.jpg

Rain is heading in, so I only took it out for a few pulls......the car def rips...

Here's the 718rwhp dyno vid....youtube really killed the sound quality

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fwqPIc-yt4

Heres a short vid out in the country....took it to right around 140 from a 20 or so roll....

Big thanks to my buddies Greg (for lending his big-a** diesel) Brian (for the trailer) and Rusty for being the pit-crew and providing moral support

I doubt 9's are going to be capable with 700rwhp.......Im thinking somewhere near 800rwhp is goal for a 9 second ride that weighs 3700lbs

Very impressive! It sounds amazing at full boost, I really like the recir'd wg so you can still hear the engine inhaling and its refined exhaust note.

Do you street drive it often?

Have you considered putting it into a lighter body like a 260z or do you just absolutly love the 300??

300's are in my blood....I have 3 of them, and I dont really think abandoning this project just to save some weight and start all over again in another chassis would really be worth the hassle, or money....

Looks/Sounds really good.

It moved out really well in that vid.. It also hooked up surprisingly well.

Keep us posted with the new drag times as you get them.

Gotta love those mickey thompson drag radials :)

I'm curious about your launch process, I've trashed like 5 output shafts so far, and I'm going to go back to the drawing board. Before I had just been letting it build as much boost as it wanted (which was probably around 25psi) and around 5500rpms was where the limiter was set at. I'd typically just dump the clutch.

Im thinking I need to dial the boost down, and maybe give it some more RPM's.

When I raced for a few years on my VG setup, I never had a 2step, so I just revved it to 7k and dumped the clutch and I never once broke a damn output shaft....

Yea I typically launch off the 2-step with between 17 and 20 psi. Then with the AEM I ramp in full boost (~24psi) once I get into the meat of 2nd gear. I kind of got my launch technique from my DSM days. I essentially start to slip the clutch a little bit and the instant that I feel the car start to move, I then quickly dump it the rest of the way. Haven't snapped anything yet. That way there isn't such a shock on the entire driveline. It gives the driveline a chance to engage a bit before full on power. Also with the slicks there is more sidewall flex which actually helps cushion the suspension a bit and ensure I don't get any wheel hop. Not sure if you are getting any wheel hop but that will kill driveline components much faster than normal.

All-in-all though, I gotta admit your launches (Even on the radials) are more impressive than my slicks. In part because I have my suspension setup to road race, and because I just have less weight on the back my best 60' last time I went out was just a 1.6 anyways... which is a ways away from you. ;)

I'm going to have to lessen the boost and try to pre-load a little bit to keep from breaking stuff it seems like. With the aem 2-step options, I should be able to dial the boost down. If I set all 3 options (ignition cut, fuel cut, and retard) all to the same rpm, I usually get 0 boost.....

To be honest......some low 1.6's to mid 1.5's would be worth not breaking anything this year, versus cutting 1.4's and having to worry about those damn output shafts.....

I saw that you have a nitrous setup, you ever use it?

Is your cylinder head ported or have any other work done to it...

Great power, love the build

This threads about a year old but.....

I sold the nitrous, never used it....only when I was helping put together the TH400 kit (which was also sold)

The head is stock with the exception of some Type-A pon-cams

Yeah a little old, but you posted some good info and results... im looking for something around the 600whp range... i have an RB25 stock head, built bottom end... pistons rods crank collar etc..

going to remove the RB25 head and install a ported Rb26 head and intake manifold setup, any reason you went with 260/252 cams instead of the 260/260?

Unfortunately at the time of buying cams, they were all I could get my hands on. Tomei was on backorder and to my knowlegde the 260/252's were the last ones on the shelf (for some time)

so for the most part a completly stock rb26 with drop in cams can make 700+ whp? So can the same be done with a rb25 with drop in cams like the 260's and some gtr solid lifters?

RB26 lifter won't just drop in to an RB25 head if that's what you are thinking. I don't think you need solid lifters anyways though. Also, I think the stock intake/TB and maybe the pistons might keep you from making a reliable 700rwhp.
