Yeah so the shop mechanics told me that my front struts are blown. I tested the car on speedbumps after and sure enough, bouncy bouncy. Anyways, I just lowered the car with Eibach's Pro Kit. I need some front struts and don't know which ones to get. I would just like some good struts that won't blow on these lowered springs. The KYB AGX's would be 270 shipped for the front left and right from Tirerack. The tokico ones are like 215 shipped for the front pair but they're blue and blue doesn't really go with my white/red/black theme. Can you see the color of struts at all when its on the ground? What would be the best alternative for good price/performance? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your car is lowered you wont be able to see them unless you crouch down and look up into the wheel wells. I feel that you should definitely not base your decision on the colors. If you are really worried about it, go take a look at your car now... can you see the black struts by just looking at it? I know I couldnt. Regardless, the AGX will be very nice with prokits. I just put them on my car and I really like them. However, you might want to buy an entire set for your car. If your fronts are blown, your rears may blow soon anyways. Plus, they are adjustable and most people will attest to their performance capabilities.

ok cool, I won't base my decision on the color anymore, I could be ghetto and spray paint them if it really bothered me anyway. I would buy the AGXs in a sec but the price is kinda expensive compared to some others. Do you think having the adjustability is worth the extra money? Also do I really need them in the rear? I'd like them back there too but I'm kinda short on money cause I'm trying to save for this upcoming college year. Also the prokit only lowered the rear like .75 inches, do you still think the rear struts will blow? I'd like to save the money if I could.

You could just switch out the fronts for now but for the best handling, go for all four. That way you can fine tune the suspension better and keep keep things safe. If you do order from us, please be sure to order through the link on this site so they can see you found us through this forum! Either that or you can contact me direct! ;)

how about the KYB GR-2 set? I know they are non adjustable but I won't be doing much autocrossing/roadracing anyways. Are they considered "performance" and will they hold up with the prokit?

The GR-2 will fall somewhere between the stock dampers and the soft setting on the AGX. I doubt they will hold up any longer than the stock units and are not designed for use with lowering springs. They are more of a direct upgrade for use with the stock springs. The AGX has adjustable damping which will help quite a bit with lowering springs as well.

well I just did some pricing, this could help other people on the forum as well as myself.

KYB GR-2 set: $331 shipped from Tirerack.com

KYB GR-2 Set new from Ebay: $290 shipped

KYB GR-2 Front left/right: $207 shipped (not bad at all but no rears..)

KYB AGX set: $481 shipped from Tirerack.com

KYB AGX set new from Ebay: $400 Shipped

KYB AGX Front left/right: $270 Shipped

Grant - if you could somehow match the price of $400 shipped I would buy the AGX set from tirerack, but right now thats wayyy too expensive.

I did some checking around and no one is going to be able to touch those at that price. He's way under even normal Jobber price. If he has them in stock, is willing to sell them at that price, and they're new and unused, I'd jump on it. KYB did just bump up their price across the board within the last year or so, but if this guy has old stock that he is willing to unload... You might want to check and see if this is an authorized KYB retailer as well. It would be a bummer if he can't offer after-the-sale dealer support.

thanks for the help grant. I love tirerack but their struts are just too damn expensive. I ordered my Kumhos off of your site though, $67 a piece for 712s, thats damn good. Anyways, I ordered the KYB AGXs this morning for $400 shipped from ebay. I don't want to spend the money but I need new struts and want only the best on my car so there it is. I'm sure I will be very pleased with their performance, everyone else raves about em. Thanks for everyones help.
