So my friend was kind enough to GIVE me a white 92' vert this week, it was taking up space.

Anyway, I've known about this forum for a while but now that I actually HAVE a 240 I decided it was time to register an account lol.

I don't know much about 240s so i'll be coming back here for help lol.It seems like the car is in good condition though. Except for the exhaust which sounds kinda weird, ima have my friend take a look at that this week.

But for now I have a question; kinda stupid lol but bare with me.

I was testing if the motor for the top worked so I put the top down, and as it went down so did the two back windows. Now the problem is I cant get them back up(the windows) lol. Where are the switches for those??

Is it the two buttons near the hand break?? because if it is then they are busted because they dont do anything.

Anyway, I'll post some pics tomorrow

Yes, the two switches on the center console are for the side rear qtr windows.

Make sure your window lock button on the drivers door is off.

Ok so I was kinda busy with school, but here are the pics.I plan on fixing whatever small details the car needs but it will probably take me a while since I'm a full time student, which means my time(and money lol) is limited. But it seems like this forum covers just about everything I need to know so I'll be coming back here.

Anyway, short little intro about myself;I'm 20, I don't know a lot about cars, just regular maintenance but I'm really exited about this car, which is my second, my first was a 89 5.0 mustang(two verts in a row! lol) which was a gas guzzler lol. I have a few friends with 240s and they seem to be very very happy with their cars lol. Most of them drift and know a lot about these cars and they offered their help with mine so thats a plus...

Ok the pics are done uploading I can stop typing now lol

The rear window is what I think needs the most work, it seems like the previous owner replaced it himself; the vinyl is stapled to the top Dash board is in good condition...The wheel is preaty beat up but I guess I can get that replacedBoth doors are in fairly good condition tooThe front area of the inside of the top is discolored or somethingLike I said, the rear window needs some fixing, I saw a thread on here on how to replace it so I think thats gonna be the first thing I'm going to work onBack seats look good tooThe top is Ok I guess

Welcome aboard and congrats on the score. The headliner discoloration is probably from having the top down for long periods of time and the sun getting to the headliner. The whole top, headliner and rear window looks like it's going to need to be replaced at some point however.

And amazingly your door panels are in great shape. That's one of the first things to go.

Make sure you put your information into the vert registry and read through all the FAQs - like you've noticed, there's a wealth of information right at your fingertips.

Yea I figured I'm gonna have to replace that whole top. My dad replaced the top on the mustang himself so I'll give him a call when its time to change this one

But I think I will do that temporary vinyl fix for now, specially cus I think it is not completely sealed as of now, I'll keep you guys posted on that.

And yea I added it to the registry already.

Nice vert BTW

Oh yea and by the way, I can't get the trunk to open.

With the key or from the inside. The key wont really go in. (Should I have started a new thread for this?)

Nice Vert!! And free makes it even better (thank your friend every time you see him or her). I agree with cmkelly, your headliner is faded from the sun, mine is the same...but I have a brand new one that I'm installing once it gets warmer this Spring. The former owners didn't use the boot cover so it faded the exposed part of the headliner while the top was down. Now on to your trunk, sounds like the trunk lock is engaged and you just have the Valet key. There is a lock on the inside of the trunk you can engage so someone can not open the trunk with the trunk release in the car, and the Valet key will not unlock the trunk either. If you have another key to the car try it...or ask your friend if they have another key...if not, call a locksmith to open it and don't forget to release the trunk lockout!!). (You can't get to the trunk from the backseat so don't even try.) I would order a new truck lock set w/keys before you call a locksmith...that way you can have the locksmith replace the lock at this time. Here is a picture of the owners manual showing the truck lockout:

You can buy a new truck lock set from your local Nissan dealer for about $65-70 or you can get a new JDM Silvia trunk lock set for just a little more, here is a link to the oval Silvia trunk lock: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...orieso ... k...d=503I like the square one better (it came on earlier model Silvia's): http://www.thenismoshop.com/ik...d=505If you do buy a Silvia trunk lock...don't buy a used one...they are old and worn out...get a new one. I have bought two old ones before I got a brand new one...trust me...get a new one.Oh yeah...one of the main reasons I posted here was to let you know that you can get a new quarter window switch from Nissan...it's one of the only convertible specific parts that you can still get. They cost about $45, here is a pic of what they look like new along with a pic of the part number:

LOL...my crappy map light...before I got my rearview mirror with map lights.

Thanks for the info about the lock! Lucky for me my cousin is a locksmith, I already talked to him, he will come take a look at it this week.

Haha that was the first thing that popped into my head, I guess I won't be trying that.

And I'm glad you noticed my 1/4 window switches are gone, I think I will try my luck at a local junk yard, and if I don't find any in good condition I'll get them from the dealer

Thanks, and nice vert man, cant wait to make mine look as good as you guys'

Hey. Congratulations on your vert. Lemme know if you ever figure out what the deal is with your rear windows. Mine are stuck down as well. Also, I'm out on the west side, so lemme know if you find a local vert in the junk yard

ENJOY! Gonna be getting warm soon

Congrats on the new car! With a little TLC you should be able to put it right.
