just got a fresh rb20

Well after 3 sr motors i m ready for rb power. i have had a 98 s14 for 10 years now and im ready to put this motor in.

Its a rb20det with vvt arp head studs all new acl bearings plus rings and a metal head gasket. the clutch is a spec 2 stock flywheel. it also has a stainless manifold with stock turbo and stainless elbow. the harness was done buy a guy name tyler derden and is plug and play with the injector pack in the harness for the s14. it also has rb25 valve covers on it. and a greddy timing belt. I got a good deal on the motor plus he even gave me the drive shaft plus short through shifter! man i love fl when buying Nissan motors! I'm starting the swap this week so i will post pics. I'm so happy with this wiring harness because tyler did and amazing job! the motor was built at a shop in Tampa that builds a lot of rb's The butterfly valves have been removed from the intake so what do you guys do to plug that hole by the throttle body?

uhh rb20det with vvt?.... and thats cool, i can tell you are excited. post some pics or something though. and if he gave u a driveshaft it was prob a stock KA one cause those do fit..

The Rb shaft seems a bit thicker.

Anyways, I don't think 20's come with butterfly valve or vvt.

Guys take a look at this motor its a rb20det with vvt. did nissan build a rb20 with a vvt head? I do know it has rb25 valve covers. but the vvt is throwing me off

also the turbo does not have a ceramic wheel

I need some help is this a 2nd gen rb20? or is it a non turbo head? sorry for the bad pics

The RB20 with the VVT never came turbo charged. That motor looks aftermarket. The oil feed line is going to the back of the block not the front. I'd be very careful on that deal.

Yup, but if it has aftermarket pistons, I'd be fine with it. I think the n/a RB blocks have the holes for oil squirters, they are just plugged, so it you installed those and got custom pistons, you'd be good to go.

I put a bore scope down in the cylinders and they are NOT dished I own this motor so let lets see whats happens. i think compression is 10.2.1 not to bad it does have a 2 mil metal head gasket with arp studs so maybe compression should be lower tuning and LARGE injectors will help me out

It looks like this is a R34 Rb20de Im not sure if its NEO or not but look at the intake. The pistons are not dished but i does have a metal gasket and studs. I do have 444 cc injectors and a fuel pump so i will set for 10 psi and see what happens. If it blows i will stroke it

Throw a alky injection kit into the mix and it should keep you safe even if the compression is higher.

what you pay for it? let us know when you get the compression numbers. wish they would have tapped the block and not the pan. should be a fun engine to play with.

What intake is that? R34? It looks just like my 2JZ.

Its a R34 NA motor. compression stock is 10.2.1 but with the metal gasket it should be a bit lower. I have a RB20det ECU and 444cc injectors along with a fuel pump and Z32 maf. so tuning will be the key...
