Just got a free block.

A friend of mine had an extra block from a ka24de motor, i told him i wanted it so i can start doing something towards getting a fresh motor to build on for turbo later. So my question is, what should i do first with this block? I mean i need to know what kind of pistons i'm going to go with, that way i know how much it needs to be bored. So do i need to find that out, then send the block to a machine guy, get it cleaned and bored and all that good stuff? Then buy my pistons and rods and stuff.......And another thing, anyone got an extra head they want to get rid of?

And do you guys reccommend any certain type of pistons and rods. On my set-up, I want to eventually reach 300- 350 whp, nothing too big, because it will probably be a daily driver, so i want it to be very reliable,and something i can take to the track and do pretty good. So i'm not going to go cheap on any of my parts. I'm new to rebuilding motors and turbo's, so i'm wanting to learn alot by building this motor. So any help you guys can give me would help me out alot and help me learn alot.

+1 AMS! Pretty simple save your money and call Chris at AMS. Buy at least the basic kit with ARP hardware.

Your bore will be based on the specs that the piston manufacture gives on the spec sheet. So buy your pistons first. Make sure that you know if the block has ever been bored before.
