just got a coupe and hud doesn't work

just wondering if theres a common problem or anything. btw this is my first coupe

its common for hud not to work...me not having it dont know what it is though. a search should show what u need

Go analog....the HUD is always a potential PITA.

Just find a working one, buy a new one from dealer (it is expensive though), or find someone who knows how to fix it (there is supposed to be some places that can be sodered and it'll work again).

Yes this is a very common problem with the HUD. Most likely a solder point went bad or the printed board had a tear in it. http://www.everythingnissan.com has replacement boards for I think $50. All you need to do is find someone to solder it on for you. Mine went bad and swapped out to an analog cluster for now. Bought off of NICO for $35. If you do swap to analog just make sure you get both wiring harnesses.

My previous 240SX was a coupe with HUD...

Like they said, the problem is very common.

In my case, I went to a junkyard and replaced the display only...not the entire cluster...just the speedometer LCD...that fixed my HUD and my speedo.

You have to tear into the junk car's cluster and pull it out of there and then tear into yours and put it in. The install is straightforward with plugs and screws...nothing too bad.

Mine worked until my car got crashed by a former friend of mine.

thanks for all the imput. a buddy of mine let me have a cluster and hud unit and it works perfectly. he hasn't told me how much he wants for it yet. he really wants to trade me an 89-90 hatch for it but i dont know if i will.
