I just bought a 92 240sx with 120k for $4,000. Is this a lot? It's in pretty good shape, has a few minor dings and dangs not really big dents. It has an Injen intake and Magnaflow exhaust.

The car has this idling problem. Coming to a stop the RPM are up high and slowing drop. The RPM sometimes stay normal and sometimes move up and down. Any idea what this is?

congrats on ur new 240. i just bought by 92 fastback about a month ago for 900 bucks. it used to be my uncles so i got a "family discount". hehe. personally i think 4k is a little much for the car. but if u think it was worth it then theres no price for happiness right? yea when i got my 240 the ka had that same problem. didnt know what it was. my motor had 214k miles on it so i decided to get myself a blacktop instead. from what i experienced wid the ka i think it might have been an ignition timing problem. not sure tho...

Hmmm, $4000 seems a little on the high side. I bought my 89 with 143K miles for $750.

Check to see if there are any vacuum leaks. I found out that the hose underneath the BPT part had a HUGE hole in it.

Do you think it has anything to do with the AIV? My car would idle at 2k RPM when the coming to a stop and when it stops it drops back to normal. This is when I'm in neutral. Anyone experience this? Thank you for your help!

aiv helps the car to warm up faster by taking air from the intake and sending it to the cat

4k is probably a little on the high side, especially if it is having idleing issues. I got my 93 HICAS equipped SE with 92k miles on it for 4k(the guy also didn't know what he had, it was listed as an auto SE model). With drifting taking off in the states I have noticed that the prices have gone up quite a bit, and finding a decent one is alot more difficult. It can be done but it takes time or luck, or even both in my case.

Congrats on your purchase!

4K(Cdn) is typically how much us Canucks pay for an average S13 and as high as 7k(Cdn). I'm so jealous that these cars are so "cheap" down south. :(

It's all about being in the right place at the right time. I'm hoping I'll get mine for "cheap!"

this was 4k US money. Damn I felt like I did get ripped off. Cruise control don't work, power mirrors were not connected and no stereo or speakers.

The car does have 120k, but damn it's never been in an accident before. Does all 91-93 240sx have lift up sunroof?

4k is a little bit on the high side considering the milage. I got my 93' fastback SE with only 90k miles with only minor problems which can be easily fixed with a tune-up for $2,500. As for the sunroof, I think all 240s have one from what I have seen.

I removed the AIV and it's a whole lot better. Runs smoother and the idle is better, although it still does high idle and then drop back down sometimes.

for 120k its too much. i got mine 3 years ago for $5000 with 70k miles on it. no accidents, driven by a sexy lady. 92 240sx SE coupe/manual

totaled the car 3 times, and still kept it, its good having a friend who fixes your car really cheap. lol 90% off.

4k is a little high for a car with that kind of problems/year/milage 1k to 2k would sound more reasonable to me. The price inflation due to popularity of drifting is fact, i got my 89' HB for 1800.when i got my car, it had that same jumpy idle probllem, so what i did was the seafoam thing and it cleard right up(Search seafoam in the forums) but mine's a Ka24e tho so it might be different for you. good luck.
