I'm a Honda guy who has always loved the dark side. I know very little about Nissan/Datsun. I'm picking up my new car tomorrow. The motor is a fresh rebuild with a bent valve. He bent the valve setting the timing or something. I'm planning on pulling the motor asap and fixing the valve. Then it's for sale. What can I get out of it?

I would like to throw a KA in it for now and boost the crap out of it till it blows. Then build it or go RB25. But what are my mount options for a KA in it? I'm only going KA cause there everywhere and easy to get parts for.

What are my suspension options? I would like to go full coilover. Something along the line of K Sports.

I'm not sure of the rust on the car. I haveen't really seen the car. The guy said it has some rust but I don't know. I heard it's in pretty good condition. I'm paying $350 for it so I could really care less how rusty it is. I am very good with body work and I paint cars on the side.

I know I'm all over the place on this. I really don't know much about these cars. I habve just always loved them.

you seem to be going in 8 directions at once, bent valve, isn't a big deal, pull the head replace damaged valve(s) put it back together or just find a good head to swap on, the 77 came wiht an n47 head, an n42 head has better intake runners otherwise is identical except for the externally lubricated cam, you might be suprised at how common, dependable, cheap and easy to service the L28 is, although the stock injection system sucks, most either swap to carbs or a turbo setup form a 280ZX

RB's and KA's ave been done, the RB's are an evolution of the L28 already in the car, unfortunately mounts and oil pan are a bit of an issue, the KA's just don't take the beating than an L6 can, the ka's are also a bit more difficult to work on

suspension, if you want coil overs, it's not like modern cars, you have to modify stock housings to accept threaded sleaves and then you have to cut out the strut towers for camber plates or buy offset caps, see my post "strut sectioning 101"

rust can be a total deal braker! on these cars the rust has been known to be very structural, the floor pans rust otu completely, the tc rod mounts and even the frame rails can fail and lead to a wrech in severe situations, if the car has severs structural rust, walk away, it's not worth the needed work

read through the various posts here in the classic Z section for lots of posts on all years of S30's

zcarparts.com, modern-motorsports.com, a couple of suppliers you might want to look up

That's a lot. I know I'm all over the place. It's just a couple quick questions I had. There will be lots of reading in my future. How do you like the GC/illuminas? My girlfriend has them on her N/A Accird and her boosted Del Sol. I love the combo. Does anyone make a full bodied coilover?

the cosest thing to a full body would be the arizona z car setup (arizonazcar.com) I run GC coils and sleaves, mine is race only I run 440lb/in fronts and 350 lb/in rears, with mr2 illumina's in sectioned housings, for my application they are great, on the road, they bruise your kidney's
