ok so i just picked up a 91 240sx, and i already love it. just one problem, it was an auto to manual swap. no thats not the problem. the problem im havin is that when in gear the car wont rev over 5gs which is strange cuz when i was tryin to get it out the driveway with all this snow here in jersey it gladly spun the tires and went over 5gs. sooo why is it that when im drivin it wont but sitting still it will? any ideas? easy fix?

Your best bet is to search for the auto to manual swap thread, read it extensively, and go over your auto to manual swap to check for mistakes. Seems to me that you still have an automatic ecu. But I cant be sure.

free-spinning wheels have less load on them than wheels that are pushing a car

does it sound like a rev limiter at 5k or does it just....stop pulling?

Car is a 91 hatch, hicas, auto, federal emmissions, etc... The hicas cars comes with factory vlsd. What else do you want to know, I work at a Nissan parts department.

Look, your best bet is to do some research on your own about your car. Hicas is 4 wheel steering, and VLSD is a viscous coupling/clutch style LSD. I would go ahead and google search 240sx and search the threads in the 240sx section and read up about the cars in general, their options and so forth. I nor most people dont have the time to sit here and explain every little part of this car. Please do some personal research, find out what you can and then post on here any questions you have later. As far as the auto to manual swap is concerned. The only way to troubleshoot other peoples work is to go over it the right way and redo what is rigged or incorrect. Good luck.

he said that because the single cam ka has a bad reputation for blown head gaskets and for spinning bearings. i know this because i just had that happen to me on two different ka's. now i am rebuilding mine just because i want to be different. so you will have to deal with alot of people talking crap because everybody loves the sr. now as far as doing a head gasket and all that. when you do your head gasket check your timing chain and guides and see if there is any play and look and see if the guides show signs of wear if they do then replace them if not then save your money but that is just my opinion. now next thing if you do have signs of wear on your guides and you do replace the timing chain and what not and then pull your oil pan and wash it in a parts washer because all the parts that come off your guides go right into it all its bad news because it will circulate through your engine. this happened to me because the guy that owned my car skipped that step and it killed my engine. i can email you pics of what it did to my bearings and the crap that was in my oil pan if you want. i hope this helps you. if not just post your questions and illl try to give you constructive advice
