Just got 92Q, what should I fix/replace first?

I just bought a 92 Q with 169k. I am wondering what items I should immediately replace/fix with these model/years?

I did an oil change. Full-synth Mobil1 with a genuine Nissan-Infiniti filter.

Added a "medium duty 16000GVW" transmission cooler.

Rotated tires (replacement soon).

I will eventually have the chain guides done. But at 169k if it lasts this long they likely were done already? Didnt most go out at 120k?

Soon will do transmission mounts, since I notice a vibration when I downshift and accelerate -hard- from 65-80mph (doesnt happen at lower speeds).

I also intend to recharge/repair the AC and do a tuneup.

Then there's the pesky front Bose amps! I always hated Bose for home, now I hate it for mobile...

Last owner (I have records) did a fuel pump, all injectors, egr gasket, heater hose, acc gasket, alternator, all belts, all within the last 2 years/20,000 miles.

A week after I bought it, I had the belts tightened, then the tensioner pulley bearing seized, causing the water pump belt to snap off and my car to overheat briefly. Had it towed, got a cab home, and got a new power steering belt and bearing installed.

Anything else I should have done to get me beyond 200k? I'm taking her across the country (from Spokane WA to St Louis MO) next month.

Thank you!-Jesda Gulati

LOTS of info on the guides, please do a search for "cha*in gui*des" without the asterisks. In particular, it's not surprising to have a Q last to 169k on the original guides...by the same token don't be surprised that one of the guides is probably in the oil pan right now. When you do the transmission mount, go ahead and order new exhaust hangers too. They help on vibe and noise, and they're cheap and easy to replace. Should be 5 hangers I believe. Engine mounts are a good idea, but much more costly in parts and labor.Good call on towing the overheat. You'll need to eventually inspect the knock sensors for cracking since they're sensitive to overheating. Sounds like you're on the right path to keeping your Q much past 200k--250k is not unreasonable. If I was going on a long road trip, in addition to doing the guides I would take my car in to a dealer and have them run a Consult diagnosis. Not sure if there's a comprehensive check-all test though.

I've read extensively, and appreciate all of the information on this forum. But do you feel that there is a surefire way to inspect the engine to see if they have been done?

No sure way without pulling the cover. It's been suggested by 911/Q45 that you can look at the RTV seam around the front cover. If it's anything but light blue, it would indicate that the cover has at least been removed since leaving the factory. That's no guarantee that the guides have been replaced, but it would increase the odds. Not many other reasons to remove the cover.

In a follow-up by Q45tech:

"The question is when was the cover off as until around 1995-96 the dealers/parts warehouses still had the old design in stock.

A Q would have been in warranty till 96 and all work would have been in the computer data base thereafter............very few independents in US would have done such work even today!"

Well great. Its blue. Then again, the sealant I have in my garage is also the same color. So it says nothing. And since its not on the warranty records, I have a feeling it wasn't done. I have the contact info for the second owner, called him but no answer. I guess I'll try him later. And the third owner (Im fourth) didnt do them either. Dont know who the third guy was.
