well after a year and a half since my wreck i got my frist settlement check in. its fifteen thousand dollars. i was wondering what i should do with it. i want to get a 97 or 98 stock low miles manuel that was driven by a responsible adult who took care of the car, but i can't find $hit out there! my friend gets wholesale turbo kits and boost control and blowoff valves and all that good stuff so i would def go turbo with it after i got it. i wanna spend about 10k of it on a car but i can't find a 240 out there worth buying. anyone know where i can find one, or know any other cars i should consider getting?

Jackson, Mississippi. 1.5 hours away, full of mustangs and camaros. That's where I'm from originally. Up until a couple of years ago little old ladies drove them exclusivlely. The clarion-Ledger is the paper, see if there is an online classified.

buy a couple kegs, invite alot of local girls over for a kegger, and ravage them. Be sure to tape it and make a website to sell them. You'll need the 15k for the business to start up. lol

That would make a nice down payment on a 350Z.

Just a tip: A lot of the nice 97-98 S14s are listed at really high asking prices. So when youre looking on AutoTrader or something, make sure you search up to $15K...

Ive seen some nice ones listed around $12K

15K is a nice down payment on an STi or EVO. Or you could get TWO cars! S13, spend about 5K on it and still have like 6-7K on a downpayment and use the rest for insurance:P

well again insurance is going to be a big key factor in this decision. im 21 years old and my insurance is damn high already. i can aford getting an s14 and going turbo bc insurance won't know jack about that. sti's , 350z's and cars like that are going to make it impossible to get insurance that is affordible on. i don't want anything that looks old. somethign i was thinking about was getting an s13 and putting on a kit from http://www.jacquemond.com on it with some suicide doors and some nice rims ( racing looking, not bling bling looking) . putting a sr20det in it and fixing up the suspention. after that i'd prob be at about 15k or so but it would be the badest car on LSU's campus.

Look over to the right and look at the sponsors. Phase2, XAT, Enjuku, Heavy Throttle are all good.

Why not get a cheap S13 rolling chassis from somewhere down in the dry, dusty part of the country, and get a good bodyshop paint the thing and put a *modest* kit on it.

As you said, set aside a bit of funds for suspension and some subtle interior stuff. You should still have enough $$$ left over to invest and you won't have a car that screams "please pull me over Mr. Policeman, I've got an illegal engine installed in my vehicle."

I say, go with a low-key but clean looking S13 chassis and get a nice S14 SR. Hell, if you can install the stuff yourself, you can get a hell of a package from Heavy Throttle for ~ $6K + shipping.

I would'n't feel right blowing $15k on a single car. Get an S13, do some modest stuff, and save the rest for emergencies or something more tangible.

If I had 15k I would wait until next year and get a new VW 4motion GTI with the 2.0 fsi turbo motor. The president of vw recently appologized for the last two models, and said this car is going to be 85% stiffer. And its AWD.
