This person has spent hundreds of hours compiling thousands of owners manuals. He's hosted them all online for free (no ads) and has an awesome motto...

The only issue I see is that he doesn't have any Nissan manuals. Can we hook him up?

That's kinda cool. He should have a paypal button that will let ppl donate to him. His bandwidth is gonna blow up now that he's hit NICO, LOL!

Also, I've always wanted to know, why don't the manufacturers come down on sites like this (and us for that matter) for hosting these references for free?

A lot of companies do it but some are really a PITA. Subaru breaks their manual down into like 12 pieces and some pieces are for 1 year and some aren't for a specific year etc. This guy spends A LOT of time organizing and presenting it in the best way possible.

Subaru's is definitely annoyingly laid out. I picked up a copy for our '06 WRX, and the lay out includes the base Impreza, WRX and STi without really giving much indication as to which section applies to which car. Gotta know your engine codes at that point >_>

Honestly I don't understand why manufacturers don't PROMOTE this kind of stuff. I could see FSM's being an issue, but owners manuals are public info, and usually a pain in the butt to find online. This is pretty sweet!

That is exactly why he's doing it. He's tried looking online for older manuals and all he was met with were websites that require account registrations, have tons of ads, mandatory "surveys", or any combination of the 3.

I want to send him NICOs collection of FSMs but am having a bit of a tough time finding them...

EDIT: Found them...

I'd hope that he'd be respectful enough to let our hard work stay where it is, just as others have done for him.

With that said, it's an awesome service, and the work that goes into securing, downloading, cleaning-up, and organizing these documents is a labor of love (or lunacy).

Nissan *could* harass us about providing the FSMs to our members... but it would be a PR nightmare, and we're not profiting off of the manuals. That gives us some measure of protection.

(...I'd still do it, because I care more about our members than I do about silly rules...) :)

MA just passed something called "right to repair" where independent shops are now allowed to purchased FSM's, diagnostic tools, and proprietary tools to work on specific vehicles. Previously, an owner with a VW, Audi, Merc, BMW, etc HAD to visit the dealer and their absurd maintenance prices because the typical run of the mill independent shop wasn't able to acquire everything needed to repair specific makes/models.
