I just sanded it down with 40grit then 120 and made my way up to 2000grit. Then polished. Once your into the water sanding it easy from there. Yah I worked on it like 1hour after i got home from school and work, so it didn't bug me. My 240 should be up and running for the first time later today.:)

I basicly did it all by hand. I sanded it down with 40grit by hand. Then went to 120grit except I used on orbital sander here. Then I used 320. Then I want back to hand sanding with 400grit. Now the pain in the *** part is done.I started water sanding with 600grit by hand and graduated up to 1200grit going up in steps of 200. Then after water sanding with 1200 I went to 1500, then 2000. By the time you get to 1200 you really start seeing a differance. Here's the fun part. The polish I used was Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. Once you put a little on and buff it in and wipe off and you could see yourself smiling in the manifold. The polishing on takes like 30-45min by hand All in all it's very easy once start water sanding. The long time consuming part in the lower grits trying to get the manifold smooth and all the big crators out. You can also try a dremel for the hard to reach places. Make sure you remove the coolant sensors when doing this or you might end up like me breaking one by accident. Hope this helps.

Yah. I'm thinking about doing my extra valve cover. The one I have on right now is a flat gunmetal with polished letters. I dropped the engine today so I need to get her up and running first before I worry about the valve cover.

are you going to be remving the heat shield just so you can see it. i made the mistake of doing that to replace it because it was cracked and i drove it around for a few days and i popped the hood to find the small box that connects to the filter box melted. just a little warning.
