Hey guys... I ordered the leatheruique treatment stuff and i did my first treatment today... unfortunatly i did not hove enough sunlight or time to do a good full exposure, but the seats improved a bit. Tomorrow i am going to let the oil sit on the seats for about 6 hours and see if i get better results.

I took some pictures but i will upload them tomorrow and hopefully the stuff gets a few wrinkles out...

I also just put in a new CIA filter on, and tomorrow i plan to do the interior and change the fuel filter, oil, transmission fluid, and diff fluid. if i have time im going to do the spark plugs as well.

Well just wanted to say hey.

Yea it CAI, but anyhow that filter probably just reduced your performance.

A good quick comparison is to compare the surface area of teh stock filter to the cone one. You will see there is more surface area thus more air coming in with a stock box shaped filter.

Infiniti put millions of dollars into reasearch and development. I think they know what they are doing.

actually, this filter is not all foam, there is a metal support that the foam filter sits on the foam is actually only about 1/2 inch thick all around.

And i finished my interior today and the seat came out a lot better, because I had the time to let the oil sit for about 6 hours... then i took my time removing it witht the cleaning solution and it actually turned out great. ill post up the new pics later...

And also with your surface area comparison, the stock box setup had the tubes leading into the air bot and hit the square filter, but then is restricted back to the same 3" diameter on the MAF. So what does the area of the filter have anything to do with it when you go from small to bigger box back to small...

Andy,

the point is that the each square inch of filter can let some particular amount of air through in a given time with a giving back pressure created by the engine, if you want to get more air through the filter you need to do one of the following - increase the back pressure (this is the engine design related issue which is the same in both cases) or increase the surface of the filter. The cross area of the MAF is not an issue here as it does not have any air resisting parts. So according to the law of physics the speed of the air in the MAF section will just be higher than the speed of the air going through the filter and that's it. If you reduce the area of the filter you will need the filtering material which can let more air through so you provide the same amount of air to the engine. So if this filter allows the same amount of air to go through you are fine. But the other factor I would really pay attention too is how well this "better through" filter does it's filtering job.

I understand all what you are saying in regards to the back pressure, and the amount of airflow each filter restrics, but i was going on the notion that the stock box pulls the air through a smaller tube, and that the surface area should not matter when the filter is in the box, but rather the amount of airflow each filter gets. I am not trying to be an *** but thats just how I see it, and on Dominick's note of the amount that nissan invested in making a system that performs the best is not all that is on the boards when designing the intake system. Sure they want to maximize perforamance, but they also want to reduce engine noise, and parts used ect. So there still is some room for improvements on just abount anything made, you just have to sacrifice other factors.

ill get those pics up tomorrow, and i think i will do one more application on tuesday.

ok heres the second time around... much better and softend the leather a bit more... but like i said i want to do it one more time around and i think it will turn out even better. There are still a few big wrinkels in the fron seats, but still better than before.

And the leather does soften, but my back headrests are still a bit hard from sun as well.

dont know why the last pic is blurry...

I just bought a J30 yesterday and it was pretty obvious this car spend most of it's life outside. I used about half a bottle of Turtle Wax Emerald Series Leather Cleaner and Conditioner and this car looks great on the inside save for some imperfections here and there, the worn steering wheel and sun damage to the tops of the back seats (the very top on the back side visible from the back windshield was white when I got the car so at least it's black again) and sometime this week I plan to take the car to a place to get a professional exterior detailing because right now the black paint looks like crap.

For any situation where leather cleaner wouldn't be appropriate (this car has really has alot of leather, I use Orange Shine.

Here are some photos I took of my car a few hours ago:http://www.villagephotos.com/p...76267

well, I was going to buy the leather repair as well, but I just did not want to spend the extra money if it was not going to reaelly work. I did have one leather guy look at it a while ago, and he said he would have to re-upholster the whole door, and if he didn't the door color would not match. Now I dont know if he was just trying to get me to spend the more money or if he was really telling the truth. I may go ahead and buy the repair stuff and dye just to give it a shot in a week or so.
