Well I just finished the 5spd swap on my 1992 Nissan 240sx KA24DE and when I tried to start up my car it started idling funny. I have the neutral switch jumpered to it self so far. I have not hooked up the other wires as I wanted to test out the swap before I worried about the reverse lights speedometer wiring...

There are 2 sensors on MT that I am not sure about and they are the "4th position sensor" and the "5th position sensor." Any ideas what these are for? I followed them to the ECU but thats as far as I got...

Here is a clip of what is happening. In this video I "barely tap" the throttle pedal... Let me know if you have any ideas...

from what i read . if you use the auto ecu for the 5 speed swap you will have a bad idle. should be a normal problem. the plus is no speed limiter

Whats the problem?...Seems to be a perfect 700 idle.

I am barely, I mean barely touching the throttle pedal and its doing this jumpy idle and after it comes down to 700 it trys to die. If I press the gas pedal it should go up while applying pressure and drop as soon as I let go of it, not idle high for 30secs...

Check the throttle cable.....Unhook it from the body, and see if it pulls and retracts free. If not try lithium greaseAlso....if you have cruise controlThe cable coming out of the C.C. solenoid, sometimes pulls out of the solenoid itself. Try to push the cap tight to the SOlenoid, had this prob a couple times

Thanks for the ideas...

I disconnected the cable from the throttle body and tried it again. Still the samething. As for cruise control, don't have it on this vehicle. Earlier I got a code for a MAF (#12) so I checked all the wires forward and back through the wiring diagram and all checked good along with the relays. Later today I will be putting a OBD scanner on it and look for anything out of the norm... If you have any other ideas please let me know... Also am thinking I should check the TPS as well...

my car is swapped to 5-speed with the auto ecu, when i start it cold, it sometimes tries to die but if i touch the gas at all it goes right to 700 and holds there...it runs great other than the choppy idle at cold starts
