Ok I just got done doing a 240/248 cam swap in my s14 a few days ago. Everything lined up perfectly, and I actually used an s13 timing chain just to make sure it would line up perfect. The distributor has to be on, because if it were off by a tooth it would either idle like crap or not even run. Timing is dead on at 20 degrees. The car idles rock solid at about 750 or so, and there really isn't any actual hesitation while accelerating. The problem is just that it literally feels like I lost 100hp. The car struggles to get around, and it's not like there's a hesitation, there's just no power at all. There were no pre-existing problems with the car before the cam swap. I'm really confused right now, any ideas are appreciated.

I am about to do the same setup on my s14 in a week after my rebuild. Double check everything and make sure your cam timing is correct. I have never done the swap yet but LMK what you find out. Does the car seem like it got any top end power or is it dead all over?

maybe you need to have it tuned? i know that when you put more air in the engine and get it out faster/longer you need to compensate with more fuel at a different time. sounds like the timing is off by a little so check to make sure everything lines up right. also see if the car has top end power because i know with cams you lose alotta low end but gain top end

Shouldn't need to tune with this simple cam swap. Obviously double/triple check. Are you positive they are the correct cams?

Did you verify that the colored three links on the chain lined up to the cams and crank dots, after hand cranking the engine a few revolutions?
