could a s14 notchtop head with VVT bolt on to a s13 block?...and would you be able to control the VVT with a V-AFC type deal? or like a standalone?

thing is i can get a s14 notchtop head cheap with the VVT, but i dont know if it will work...

It'll bolt up, but the VVT wouldn't work. It sources oil from the block and has it's own separate channel that goes from the block to the head. So not only would you not have VVT, you'd also leak oil through a small gap on the head where the channel should be on the block. Half of the channel hangs open on the block deck. I noticed this when using an S14 head gasket on an S13 block a while ago. I took a mental note of where the channel lined up.
