My "library" consists of a ton of automotive books (restoration, history and service manuals)...

I love "Verbal Judo" by Dr. Thompson.. quick, easy read - but really good.

Oh, sorry! ... Dummy me.

Before I was married, I had girlfriends named: Cheryl, Cindy, Michelle, Kathi and Aimee. No girlfriend while I lived in Mississippi for almost a year once - had broken up with Michelle shortly after I went there. Wasn't there long enough to acquire a Sallie or Billie or ...

Yes, we could all use a lesson from szhosain in that regard. I agree szhosain, you're very well "spoken" (written?).

I agree. My vernacular is wide, my grammar usage is so-so, and my punctuation is excessive. But, even I am impressed with how well you compose your posts, eloquent to say the least.

Aimee is how she spelled it. I don't know if that had been changed from something else ...

Thanks!

Yes, I am an immigrant - from Pakistan. I came to the U.S. in 1974 when I was eighteen years old to go to college, and ended up staying after I graduated. My research and thesis was in the field of Semiconductor Physics and I would not have been able to find a job back home.

FWIW, my grammar and writing skills have been mostly the same from well before my arrival here. I learned English along with my native language at the usual young age, as they were both spoken in my home, and taught in the schools I attended. Plus, I read a lot!

Thanks!

It has a lot to do with my being a bit too anal about wanting to ensure that people understand what I said/wrote. That originates from the amount of writing I do in my work, where clarity is important. Otherwise, people might misinterpret information, and this could lead to expensive implementation mistakes!

It's called reading. Top to bottom, left to right, a group words together is called a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches, Midol for any cramps.

hahaha. hopefully you wont need me. us dems would have instituted world peace day, and Flying Spaghetti Monster based creationism into schools, as to cause mass psychosis amongst the conservative right. With any luck, the playing of whale mating calls will have the same effect as country music in Mars Attacks!

Im really tired, but find this banter hilarious.
