I was just curious if a bad oil pump can cause a rattle? Chain rattle perhaps? Chain guide?

Does it sound like a bike chain being dragged over a coffee can full of water? If so I would suspect the timing chain is slack.

Nope it does not sound like a bike chain dragged over a coffee can full of water...it's just rattles/ticking during cold start ups and then as the engine warms up the rattle goes away.

If the SR chain tensioners are oil pressurized you might be getting low pressure until the oil warms up, oil to thck? Just a thought.

Don't think so...I'm running Mobil 1 10w30 only.

The chain rattle/ticking sounds more towards the bottom of the water pump near the oil pan...so I figure it may be a bad oil pump or something.
