Thanks to Goody94Q45 (Mike Goodwin) For sending me the AAC gasket fast, I had a chance to clean the AAC AKA IAC and let me tell you it was eaiser to get it out than to put it in because I actaully had to use radiator hose grease. but after cleaning with brake parts cleaner and electical parts cleaner it still is at 10% duty cycle.

Is the rod that goes to the spring supposed to be black?

The AAC wasnt very dirty and lucky for me the gasket was hard but in one piece when it came out.

Why is it still at 10% duty cycle was I supposed to adjust the screw?

I recomend when ever you you deal wth hoses just put a little Radiator hose grease on it.

I don't know how you do all this Mike I am 19 and my back is killing me. but no asprin for me yet.

Asprin? Hell go root through your parents medicine cabinet and find some Oxycontin or Percocets.....chase em down with some single malt on the rocks and call it a day. Working under the hood is just painful, and only gets worse every year.

My parents arn't in that much pain yet I guess I am a good boy.

But as I was working I kept think how much a shop would charge or a dealer, And how mucg more problems they would create either in my wallet or car.

The EGR is next YAY.

I use a 12" X 18" X 2" thick dense foam pad to lay my upper torso on. Saves the back, hard on the elbows.

Congrats on tackling the IAC. Except for reconnecting the bottom hose it should have been pretty easy and you saved yourself at least $100 for not having to take it to a shop. On to the EGR valve.

Well it only took 30 Bucks at most (Gaskets all 3, RTV, Brush, brake parts cleaner and electical part cleaner)

This should be done every year though right?

O and Mike I will check the thottle cables and see if there up to spec for the AT check thing, i know I adjusted them a little to get them out of the way.

But geting them in to spec is nothing like getting the TB Screw back to where it was is it?

Just make sure to leave some slack in the cables, and adjust them after everything is completely warmed up. The fast idle cam can throw things off if it is still holding the throttle open a little. If you adjust the cables too tight they will bind and you'll have a high idle.

To answer your other question, the rod in the AAC valve is black. I cleaned mine today along with the plenum, throttle body, runners, EGR valve, etc. I have gone trough 14 cans of brake parts cleaner in the last two days. Who knows how many brain cells

Hopefully I will be done with my injector replacement early next week!

Well I screwed up the thottle cables try to clear some room to get to the EGR so now the thottle only opens half way and the pedal is half way to the floor.

I undid the cables from the TB and on the plenum is what i mean by "Screwing them up"

Time to crack open the FSM and a ruler.

But when Adjusting the cables is'nt like adjusting the screw for the Fast Idle cam is it I mean I can put humpty back together again right?

It should be easier than the TB adjustment. Post some pictures and we may be able to help. Here's a snapshot of mine that I took right before I pulled the plenum, just to have a quick reference for the throttle cable routing. I know it's a little blurry... I will try to take a better one after I put everything back together if you need it.

Thanks so much for that picture, Your a life saver.

I put it back humpty dumpty back together again!!!!!!

Now to fine tune according to the FSM and make sure the TPS is giving the correct voltage.

But thanks again and I hope the best with your new injectors.

I'm glad my blurry pic helped!

Again, be sure you check the TPS voltage with the car fully warmed up. I leaned about the cables binding and fast idle cam trying to get a faster throttle response

Also, don't be so worried about the EGR valve. It isn't too difficult.Good luck!

Thanks,

But all that really matter is that when you "drop the hammer" the throttle opens all the way right?

And that the TPS is adjusted correctly right?

Any thing else I should know?

O yea How do I interpert the FSM Diagram on page FE-2? in the 1994 Q45 maual it lists all the measurments but how do I interpert them?

The real crux is the EGR inlet into the plenum which gets clogged easily, and can't be cleaned without removing the plenum.

Concern yourself more with it closing all the way when you let off of the accelerator. You want a little slack there, not a ton. And don't go adjusting the TPS if you haven't touched it already. They don't get "off" over time... so leave it alone!

Interpret the diagram as "leave a little slack in the cables" - I wouldn't mess with the throttle drum adjustment either... but if you do I'm sure that the "15 to 2" turns is a typo - should be 1.5 to 2.
