With complete PC systems being so damn cheap nowadays, I've found it usually costs the same buying a prebuilt system than building one yourself. Sometimes it's even cheaper with the deals that pc makers get on builk parts.

It didn't used to be this way, but it's still fun building your own and knowing exactly what's going on behind the scenes, much like a car!

^^ Exactly. Honestly building your own PC doesnt save you much if any money anymore. I still will never buy another PC prebuilt in my life. Laptops yea, but PC? Never.

So i have my beast running again. Its flawless at this point, i had a defective hard drive for sure. This raptor harddrive is the best bang for the buck ever.. Thing is BLAZING fast for windows/games search and load times. Sub 100 bucks, best HD ever. Only limit is its storage space, but you can get a larger HD for mass storage which is what you should do anyway.

I still have the same situation with my core temps though. My Asus program(PC Probe) is saying that im running at 35c idle, 49 full load. This seems reasonable and is probably right. The program Coretemp reads way low, so im saying its garbage for this MOB/CPU combo. In addition, the ASUS program is saying my core voltage is 1.35 while CPUz is saying its 1.2 so, idk what exactly to think.

In addition, the ASUS program is saying that all my voltages are higher than they should be. For instance, the +3.3 volt is at 3.45. +5 volt is at 5.11. 12 volt is at 12.63. Anything to worry about here? I have a high end power supply so im not sure what to believe. Hell im tempted to but out an automotive voltage tester and dive into this thing just to see if this program is trustable.

Im at 3.0 GHZ now, and at full load im at 50c(with the asus program..). So im not sure i want to push it much further. My vid card is the already bottle necking my system so i doubt it would even mater if i did O/C it further. Im a little disappointed if thats the true core temp, i expected more. Idk though yet, i need to figure out if my core temps are right or not.

Also, i took some pics of everything now that im close to being done. I still havnt figured out how to mount the filter yet, something im gona have to fab up. Ill get some pics up when i have some more spare time.

50c is fine for a cpu, they can stably run fine for days and days around 60c. I have my 2.4 at 3.0 and I run it 24/7 at 60-65c. I used to be all about lower temps, but stopped caring because it doesn't really matter lol.

Its been a while. My PC has a new home, well, i have a new home lol. Let me toss up some pics..

Two fans in that middle vent area. There is an option of running 6 HD's for this case but.. My one blazingly fast Raptor + a 280gb Seagate is all ill need for a while.

Night shots. LED's courtesy of Antec, the case came with blue lit fans, look pretty nice although i would have chosen a different color.

This is at it sits now. Its being used as an air filter-circulator/PC. : ) Im going to upgrade the fans and start making better filters, but for now this thing kicks a**. Im in a house that has a ton of cats(grandparents old place, had 7 cats.., 3 now.) the filter is, suffice to say, doing its freaken job.

Looks good dude. I'm taking some computer classes now and met a few people that have built their own computers. It really is neat to see what all goes on behind the scenes. Check out the specs on this thing my friend built:

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bitProcessor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale 3.33GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65WMemory: OCZ Platinum Edition 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad KitHD: Western Digital Caviar GP WD5000AACS 500GB 5400 to 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/sVideo: (2x-SLi)GeForce 8800GS Alpha Dog EditionPlus, hes got a Acer 22" 2ms Widescreen LCD

Badass gaming rig. He had COD4, and two other games (can't rememer the name) that require A LOT of memory all running on high at the same time and it didn't even phase it. It's pretty gross.
