Just brought me a 240SX! Need help on SPEC!

HeyPeopleHow are your doing? I just brought my self a 90 240SX Coupe. I need help on the spec and what should I do to it.And Did i pay too much?It's a 90 240SX Coupe108.000 mile's on it Look clean in and out.New belts, tires.No spoiler:(For $2000?Did I pay too much?

There are some things to take into consederation.

1st - how much money do you have to play with?2nd - what are your goals for the car? drage, street, autoX, daily driver?3rd - do you want boosted, or NA power?4th - can you have down time?

I have about $1000 right now to play withMy goal is Street/daily driver(AKA still can drive my mother in law t and from work once n awhile!I want TurboDepend on the downtime!

I would get an exhaust, underdrive pulley, short shifter, then maybe setup a custom intake (don’t waist money on one if your going turbo)

Then upgrade your suspention, breaks, then save for turbo.

Oh okI been trying to change my shift nob but I ca't turn it like my honda? How do i do it? I am looking for a Exhaust But I don;t know should i look for a good muffler then do custom catback or should i just buy a whole kit catback?

If I were you, I would first look at what is wearing on the car first, before you customize anything. The timing chain is very very important on the ka, do you know if it has been replace, you can usually also tell by opening the hood, turning on the car, and if you hear a rattle on the front part of the valve cover it "may" or "may not" need replacing.

He change The timeing Chain, Water Pump, Gasket, Timming Gasket, Valve Cover gasket, Sark lugs and the Battery. It's on the invoice that he give me. It cost him total 479.00 and 2 months ago or 3500 miles ago he change all 4 tires 195-60-15 Falken Ziex 502 at NTB it cost him 304.32.Is there anything people that I need to change?

It sounds like it should be in good shape then. what you may want to do is first run it on a dino to find out what power your puting down, just as a starting point. kind of like taking a pic of your car before and after (this is something i wish i would have done)

second i would do a compresion test.

then decide if you want to swap, or stay with the KAe engine. with the KA24e, its much harder to turbo then say the KA24de. you have to pice it together.

you can swap to the later KAde, CA, or SR.

if you swap to stay with the KAde, you could just build it up while to drive your car around.

IF i were you i would get things that are not engine dependent.Exhaust, lots to chouse from here (I would personly go after market full catback)

then if your car is like mine the suspention is warn out, you might want to look into new springs and shock/struts, maybe replace your bushings, check your break pads. stuff like that

I really thank you for helping me. Beause I always been a Honda Fan. But never Nissan. Before I got the 240SX, I was going to get a CRX but When I think about it. With 140HP and 150TQ no honda coupe with a I-4 can get that high of TQ other then the Accord F23 153TQ. And I through it never too late to learn about Nissan. Anyway this morning when I first start the car and not put it in gear but push the gas I notice the engine shake the car petty hard. Is there Anything wrong? I know I need to replace the Exhaust ASAP because is leaking. Missing one tip and is louder then my old 97 Civic With Full DTM cat back Exhaust. I mean this car is loud.

Could be the engine mounts, after I pulled my engine for the rebuild my mounts just fell apart. So i got some nismo mounts from http://www.jspec.com. They would be fine to upgrade, because all of the engines i mentioned use the same mounts.

I cant wait for my engine to be done (been over 3 months now), JE made the pistons incorectly so i am waiting another 2 weeks for them to get corect ones made.
