It sounds like it should be in good shape then. what you may want to do is first run it on a dino to find out what power your puting down, just as a starting point. kind of like taking a pic of your car before and after (this is something i wish i would have done)
second i would do a compresion test.
then decide if you want to swap, or stay with the KAe engine. with the KA24e, its much harder to turbo then say the KA24de. you have to pice it together.
you can swap to the later KAde, CA, or SR.
if you swap to stay with the KAde, you could just build it up while to drive your car around.
IF i were you i would get things that are not engine dependent.Exhaust, lots to chouse from here (I would personly go after market full catback)
then if your car is like mine the suspention is warn out, you might want to look into new springs and shock/struts, maybe replace your bushings, check your break pads. stuff like that
