Hey all saw the car and i got ripped off wife is po'd (went on a i told you so tantrum then started crying) now we're screwed for a second mode of transportation. I knew it had problems but i thought it would pass inspections. thats what they said when i bought it---i asked them what problems were on it "oh just the transmission won't go into overdrive and tiny valve cover leak not even a bother i've been driving to and from work...blah blah blah" then i called the dealership and confronted them there story changed to we haven't driven it since its been on auction so you'll get some problems, every problem with the vehicle we told you about we're not taking it back. friggin thing caused a smog problem in pittsburgh that was just from unloading off the truck and it wouldn't go past 35mph going downhill (falling off a cliff it would probably go past 35mph). i am screwed, have to change my handle from ChiQ45 to ChiNikeExpress

Too bad you are not in California, I believe you can rescind the sale, and return mis-represented items. Check your state laws, or file negative feedback on ebay. I hate dishonesty and cheaters!!

Ouch! Hopefully you'll be able to get something done... best of luck to you! I'd get eBay and PayPal (if you used them) involved in this too... with a 100% feedback rating, I'd think the seller should be willing to work with you.

I bought "Q2" over the internet, but paid a few hundred extra to fly out to San Jose see the car and test drive it before I handed over the certified check (didn't pay a deposit) - not an option for everyone, but it worked for me.

Florida cars seem especially dangerous. Hope you can get some satisfaction. I guess the moral is to never buy a car you can't inspect.

I wanted to fly down to florida but they talked me out of it.

I didn't get ebay or paypal involved yet i'll call them on monday. I used paypal just paid the whole thing.

Hopefully the mechanics get back to me on monday and tell me it's an easy fix (yeah right)---fingers crossed

I loved the look of it except the gaping hole. are the pics still loaded on ebay? can anyone else check out the auction and tell me if they see a gaping hole?

gotta go my daughter is throwing a fit i'll be back later

The pictures have been gone for days... I tried to look at them last week sometime when you started the thread. Gaping hole?

yeah the hole is located where you usually jack up the car to work on the driver side rear tire. like under the driverside rear door. looks like its right in the frame like they tried to pick up the car with a fork lift and they weren't low enough. i just got the title in the mail why would the odometer reading be exempt? anyone know?---besides all the problems the car is roomy and seems like it could perform like a dream except the people who owned it before abused it. i saved all the pictures how do i attach it?

Odometer reading is exempt in some sttes if over 100,000 or if the seller declares it to be not as reflected on the odometer.

So cottman's wants either 1500 to drop in a transmission with 56k or 2510 to rebuild with a kit they have to make it sturdier + 3 year warranty and towing road side assistance? Do you know of any kits to make a transmission sturdier? I don't know if I should go through with it either way i'm going to need it financed. He said the torque converter failed and it was scoring and damaging the rest of the transmission with metal pieces so he can't salvage the transmission. Or i can just pay him the $300 and put the transmission back and say fok it and try and return the car....the price seems very high to me. Any thoughts should I go through with it knowing i still have to redo the valve cover and chain guide? Craig

Ah, the Cottman web is being woven. For $2500, you can get a transmission from Joe and probably install it. Will they replace the torque convertor also? Will have to at least flush ATF heat exchanger (there is a TSB) in radiator. No one mentioned this yet? Beware! Might have to replace the radiator if not flushed religiously.

I would explore legal recourse against the seller.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Craig, if the $2,500.00 includes the torque converter, and a full flush of the radiator, AND a 3 year warranty, it sounds like an OK deal, to me. Have them check the pressure drop through the radiator, or just replace it. Add the transmission cooler at the same time. Don't wait. Most of the damage done to a transmission, is done in the first 10,000 miles. Heat is the enemy of trannys.

If you decide to not fix it, don't pay Cottman for labor to re-assemble it. Just get your car back.

A transmission wiht 56K on it, is usually a lie. It's more like 100K, and will probably start failing, in about 10K miles.

Once you get past this, you will be happy with the car.
