Well after 20k miles, my Toyo Proxie T1R's have turned into drag slicks...They have been a great tire, much better than the OEM Bridgestones which lasted only 13k. I was happy with the performance in dry and wet weather...but they were a bit noisy. I'm running a larger than OEM size:

245/35 -19 front275/35 -19 rear

After looking online, the Toyo's have gone up in price to $280 per tire on the rear size and $214 for the front ($1049 shipped for all 4). That was at Tiredeals4less.com. I know I paid $900ish when I initially purchased them...

Then, I looked on Tirerack.com for pricing on the Yokohama S. Drives. (SVT loves 'em!) They were actually cheaper ($195 front, $221 rear...$952 shipped) I had Discount Tire match the price of the Yoko's

So, new sneakers will be installed in a few days...I'll let you know how they compare to the Toyo's.

PICS!!

Hmmm. You drive aggressive? I have 16k on my Bridgestones and still have tons of tread left.

You also have a G37...are they the same tires? I've been known to occasionally drive fast...but I only live 5-min from work.

I currently have the S. Drives. I had it for about 4 months now. The size is different than yours; but none the less, I have no problems w/ them. Little noisy is all I can think of.

Got 'em put on Friday...they seem to be a little fatter on the sidewall compared to my Toyos. Much quieter though...I'll get pics up soon.

My 'Stones are still on my G at 24,500 miles. They badly need replacing, but they're still at 2/32 on the rear with more on the front. Just waiting for the job I just finished interviewing for until I get new tires.

I guess I baby my G compared to you guys.

I'll be anxiously waiting for your comparo. I'm trying to decide between Toyo and Yoko.

Yokohama S. Drives first impressions:

-Much quieter than the Toyo's!!

-Ride quality seems better...they don't feel "hard" like the Toyo's did.

-Traction is great....but I haven't pushed 'em yet...still need to past break-in period.

-They seem to have thicker sidewalls...look like a bigger tire. (Of course that could be the new tread too.)

-The Yokohama S. Drives were cheaper than the Toyo Proxy T1Rs'.

Front: toyo=$214 / Yoko=$195Rear: Toyo=$315/ Yoko=$221

Here's something to ponder, at least I think it is.

Since you're running a wider tire Joe, do you think you got better mileage out of your Toyo's due to the larger surface area of the contact patch or because of better materials?

The Toyo's just felt like a better tire...I don't think the increased surface area had much to do with the increased mileage...especially since it was 7k more!!

-I'll update the forum in a few months after they've been broken in

I would think the same thing - the larger tires more than likely have a slighly higher rolling resistance than the smaller ones (though this is also subjective to the tread design and such as well...)

I noticed when I swapped out the original tires on my car and threw wider tires on, my MPG's did decrease a slight bit, but nothing more than 10-20 miles per tank. But I also bought a much 'grippier' tire as well.

Yup, if you look on Tirerack.com, the sizes I have are "optional" sizes.

I think we have that one too, but in red...Kohl's with discount was very reasonable. Rated really high by CR.

Stairs are EZ!!! I have a 16 yr old who does them.

I know you have a coupe but shouldn't you get more than 20kmiles out of a set of tires?

I've got 40k on mine with a shade over 7/32 left

You are driving with dangerous tires with only 2/32. An accident could cost you much more than tires including your life as well as someone else's?

Use regular 87 octane if you have to to save some $$$
