Hello all,
I am new here and I just bought a beautiful Sapphire Blue Z32 NA. One problem I am having is the gas gauge is acting like my tank has 10 gallons in it. I guess that could be a sending unit or even possibly a warped gas tank. Since I bought it the red dummy brake light comes on every time time I hit the brakes. The manual says it has a brake light out, but I they seem to all work (I even replaced all of them except the 3rd brake light). Third my reverse lights do not work. I had a shop trouble shoot it and they said that the switch was bad, they verified it worked, but it wouldn't work in the car when put in Reverse. So, thanks for any help in advance! I'm glad to be part of the Z community again. In 93 I bought a sweet 86 300zx and drove it until 97. Fun car, but nothing comes close to the z32!

T-tops out!

Welcome,

Gas tank is more than likely the sending unit. They normally go bad, wear out, etc...

Brake lights come one when you press the brakes, check the fluid, make sure it is full. If not, the third brake light could very well have the wrong bulbs in them, even though it works. They are very specific from Nissan.

Reverse lights are more than likely a switch or a connection at the switch. Can be changed, but an easy task with trans in the vehicle. The wires normally break off at the switch. wouldn't hurt to take a look, if you are able to.

Thanks for the tips! I have the car in a specialty Z car shop right now replacing the timing belt. They are going to look at the brake bulbs in the third brake light assembly. They are also going to look at the reverse light problem. The guy I talked to said that a piece might not have been put back right after the clutch change. So far, I think my car is in good hands, I will know later on today!

Reverse lights are either a broken switch, broken wiring or as they said that it's missing a piece in the transmission.
