Car: 90 240SX Liftback

Post

Anyways on Ebay I reciently bought a 90 240sx Liftback with all options (sadly an automatic ). I havent seen it in person yet and I am going to pick it up tomorrow. I just had a few questions b/c I bought it as a spur the moment thing and dont know about S13's too much.

Q: It has a HUD, but I dont really understand what it is.

Q: I hear that it has a traction control system on it, how can I disable it?

Q: Has anyone done this to their car yet? [http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/shift ... n_auto.htm] I was wondering how good it actually works.

I'm sure there is more questions that I forgot to ask but thats it for now. Thanks in advance to those who can help.

What do you mean by liftback? It's either a hatchback or a coupe. (Ithink you're referring to the hatch, but hatches don't have HUDs)

The HUD, which only a coupe should have unless swapped by a pervious owner, simply projects your speed at the lower left corner of the windshield.

The only traction-related system 240's ever came with is Super HICAS. You'll know if your car has it because it'll say it right infront of the rear wheels. It's a system that adjusts the rear toe in certain situations. Good for the safety of noobs who find themselves beyond their driving limits, but bad for racers and drifters.

The shifting faster thing is lame. It only makes the shift harsher and kills the transmission. Not worth it.

What did you drive before the S13 and what are your plans for it?

Sorry but by Liftback I mean Coupe. I used to drive a Dodge Spirit RT (224 Turbocharged Horses ) but the transmission went and I dont have the time to invest in it and fix it at the moment. Was Super HICAS common on alot of cars back then? And how would I know if it has it or not? But, in the future I would like to get a SR20DET and place it in there w/ a 5-speed, but thats a long ways away. Any easy and lower-budget mods you would recommend?

what can i say, the technical term is not hatchback either. it's called a fastback, just like the supra, the sleek smooth look blend oppose to a rear where it looks similar to wagon where it completely cut off.

and there is no such thing as super hicas equipped in a 240sx coupe.

the stock ka24e has a gang of potential, but aftermarket parts are limited. however, Jim Wolf Technology (JWT) makes quite a few parts that will satisfy any KA owners.

you dont not have a hicas model. They were all hatches, and were not made in the 89-90 model

If you are definately going SR, start with suspension, wheels, brake, and body modifications now. Don't pour money into a motor you're getting rid of. Check the Advertiser Specials forum, I think they have some good deals on coilovers. Another popular combination is Eibach Sportlines with KYB AGX's. Look around and you'll find out all you need to know on it.

Before you even think about doing a SR swap get to know your car and how it handles stock. Even when you know her like the back of your hand begin by upgrading suspensions, brakes, chassis rigidity etc... Remember that the you will be packing quite a few more horses and you are bound to go through some pads, rotors and tires. Learn with low power and truly master the car before you upgrader otherwise there is a good chance you will never be able to get the most out of your new SR20DET.
