Welcome to NICO dude. I googled this kit for $505http://performancenissanparts....eb8e2. You could save for a turbo kit also. Some of the other members can shed some more light and point you in the right direction. Welcome again.

Welcome to NICO!

Now the bad news...

An SRT4 will each your lunch all day long unless you use a lot of nitrous, do a ton of all-motor mods (and strip the inside), or turbo.

The first option, N20, isn't smart. Pushing a lot of N20 into the stock block, especially without upgraded engine management and fuel injectors, is asking for trouble.

A heavy all motor build is expensive and will make your car drink gas like crazy, not to mention idle funny and be loud to the point of scaring small children.

Of course, turbo Specs are becoming relatively common, but it's still over $3k +installation (unless you go DIY).

Nitrous isn't quite plug-and-play, suddenly adding enough oxygen to create 50 or 100 more hp takes more than just plugging in some nozzles, popping a bottle in the trunk, and pushing a button.

So, as far as answering how to beat the SRT4? Take it into the twisties.

Nitrous isn't that hard. I installed the ZEX kit myself in about 1.5 hours. put in the jets for the 75 hp shot, and ran low 12's all day in my CRX. And the motor was almost all stock except for the usual bolt ons. And the kit is less than $500 most places.

So do it. What is a SRT stock? 220 Crank Hp? Rated anyways, i hear rumors it's more like 240hp. What is you Spec-V? 190 crank if I remember right? So add 75 to your 190 and walla, 265 hp. Follow the installation instructions to a tee, especially the tuning part, and you will have no probs. A stock 4 cyl. will handle up to 80 hp shot.

Of course driving skill and traction will come into play. Weight too. Take him with a 1/4 tank gas and 12 psi in your tires.

He can add a 75 shot to the spec all day long. He still isn't going to beat an SRT-4. They are rated @ 230bhp, but are dynoing @ 230 wheel horsepower on stock boost. A spec is rated @ 175bhp and dynoing around 145 wheel horsepower. Adding a 75 is not going to get you a true 75 wheel horsepower, 50-60 maybe. The spec with intake and header is getting about 160 wheel horsepower. Add another 60 with nitrous is still only getting you around 220, MAYBE. You are still out gunned, especially with the turn of a boost controller. If beating a SRT-4 is all you are worried about, then you should have bought a different car. It's like comparing apples and tomatoes. Build the car for what its designed for, all motor or possibly a turbo kit. But with a turbo kit you are very limited to what kind of power you can make without building the internals of the motor. Unfortunately they didn't build the QR like the old faithful SR.

I never intended to imply that nitrous is hard, but the kind of shot he'd need is a little more involved that just throwing it in, specifically the tuning (which requires more hardware, and thus more $).

There is no $500 way to add 90-100whp reliably.
