Well folks I finally got a ka24de which I will be getting fully machined, bored and decked blah blah blah and fully built with forged internals. This is my first time working on a ka24de - what should I know and look out for? What are common mistakes with these motors? I've built motors before so I know general deals but I wanted to see if there is anything I need to look out for specifically on this motor.

You've decked the block. If you plan to mill the head, the combined milling operation will throw the cam timing off. You'll need adjustable cam sprockets to bring the timing back to spec. Degree the cams first to determine the amount of offset in the timing.

If the amount of combined head and block milling exceeds 0.008", the timing should be checked with a degree wheel to see how much it's off.
