This goes without saying, but these cars are known for rust (especially in the northern states). The Z31 rusts in the following locations; rear quarters (check for holes that lead into the spare tire well and right above the muffler). They also rust where the floor pan and trunk pan meet, behind the seats. I suggest removing the seats and carpeting to check those critical areas; if the rust is bad enough, the rear suspension mounts will break free. The front fenders are also prone to rust, as are the rocker panels (behind the plastic lower body molding). Strut towers (front and rear) also rot out. If the body is solid, proceed to check all electrical components for function; the window regulators are prone to failure (specifically, the gearboxes). The drivetrains are relatively solid, and good for upwards of 400,000 miles if maintained; but you mention you have a turbo car, so check for oil sludging by removing the oil cap. Also look for signs of head gasket failure. I have read that the earlier turbo chargers are better than the later models (or vice versa). I own a N/A car, so I'm not too familiar with the turbo chargers in these cars... Oh, check for water leaks around the rear windows and T-Tops (if you have 'em).
