Hey guys,

Just bought an 05 black on black 6MT coupe.

It was a little beaten up, but the price was great and the warranty is still in effect.

Anyways, just had a couple of questions:

When I accelerate (moderate, nothing fast) I here a wooshing sound. It sounds a little like the synchros, but a little more like the driveshaft against carpet. Is that normal?

Also, what's the concensus on the RevUp engine and Synthetic? I've used synthetic in my I30 for about 30,000 miles without any noticeable problems, but then again, my I didn't have oil consumption issues like the Gs and Zs do. Autozone has a great deal on Mobil 1 right now. By 5 quarts of Synthetic or Extended service Synthetic and get a Mobil 1 Filter Free.

So basically you're spending between $30-$35 for a Synthetic Oil Change. It's good through Jan 9th.

Another question. The front tires have decent camber wear. I read somethign about suspension issues. Is this something that should be taken to the dealer to deal with or just get an alignment and new tires?

Which brings me to my final question: Where do you guys get decent priced tires?

The 05 6MTs came with the sports suspension and 19" rims. Those REO50s cost about $250 a pop. That's a grand for a full set of tires. Any sugestions?

I wish I had a Blue Slate Coupe.

I'll get pix up shortly. My wife is holding them hostage.

She wants to pose on the car for me to make a Sig. I think she was jealous of all the ones she's seen.

Definately not a Noob. My I30 is just a little too old and hurt to race anymore lol. She still makes those damn little Hondas pee their pants though.

So tirerack is the only answer? I'm too poor to drop a grand on tires.

Lately, I've been getting quotes from Discounttire and having my local Nissan dealer beat their price and give me half price alignments.tirerack is a great place to compare.

I would just go and get a lifetime alignment. I had it on my I30 and loved going in there every 6 weeks. Old bushings and lowered suspension= poor alignment.

What kind of prices did you get from the dealership?

They basically matched the discount tire price & half price alignment.

$700 for 4 yoko avids/alignment for wife's G$265 for 2 kumho's/alignment on son's exploderOut-the-door prices

I would rather put my money in my local Nissan's pockets. Builds relations. Get discount prices on parts. They find discount coupons for me. $15 for a Z-tube take-off. They recently let me take a new Nismo 350Z out for an extended test drive.

Were these 17s 18s or 19s? I don't remember seeing 17s on an 05, but I'm not as familiar with the year intricacies for the G coupe.

Also, were those the T1Rs? I'd love to get a set of those for $600 out the door, but I'm having trouble with the 19" size. Infiniti chose some whack size tires!

Base 05 came with 17s, but mine are 18" Proxes TPT. User reviews I found said they had great wet traction but they are about average. Do give pretty good traction in the curves though.
