I know nothing about this holding the pedal down to clear codes on any nissan. There is no procedure in any service manual that tells you to do this. You need a scan tool to clear it.

I know in all the new altimas, 350z's G35's, and maximas to read the codes you turn the key on, wait 3 seconds, then push and release the gas pedal 5 times within 5seconds, then you wait exactly 7seconds, then you hold the pedel for 10 seconds, then the light will start flashing and you can retrieve your codes. then if you want to clear it you hold the pedal for another 10seconds and the codes will clear. this is what I have been doing and it seems to be working. I will clear the codes and the light wont come on for a day or two afterwards. Like I say I dont know if this works on all nissans or just certain ones.
