Well assuming you want a RB, for that budget I would say get an rb20, replace all regular maintance items. Get mounts, clutch and a 1 piece driveshaft and youll be pretty set.

at a $2-3K budget, you won't be getting anyone to put it in for you. Gotta do it yourself.

Before you go any further, read through the FAQ and stickies posted in above in this forum.

As I like to say:

figure your budget for such a swap as in how much you have to spend or willing to spend.

Figure the type of application you wish to use this car for (street, road, track, drift, drag, etc, etc, etc.)

research, research, research the engines you might potentially swap. much is uncovered in this step.

Make a grid, matrix, cost vs. benefit analysis, etc. etc. whatever fits your decision making process.

Determine what engine best fits your needs and budget.

Re-evaluate budget.

multiply by x2.

Then call me

looks like your budget better suits an SR swap. im pretty sure u can get one fully swapped by a shop for under 3k. and you have a nice platform to build your goals on. having 3k and wanting an rb swap to me, feels like its BARELY limping in. unless you can expand your budget by about 2-3k, it stick to an SR or keep saving

2-3k is scratching the surface of an RB swap IMO.

I don't want to see you with a half done car for three years while piecing it together. Guaranteed you will end up frustrated and may not finish it.

I agree with the SR suggestion, and they don't lose much value so you could pull it again later and sell it to someone as a complete swap.

after having completed my swap less than 2 months ago, this is about right.you will be able to find a motorset, maybe some mounts, then you're still left with the odds and ends here and there (normal maintenance parts, etc) that you WILL want to change out before you put that motor in the car. When it comes to MISCellaneous parts here and there, you will be nickel&dimed to death with a 3000 dollar budget and end up spending about 6gs.

There is not a lot of room to move around with an RB in an S13 chassis.

The RBS are sweet motors, don't get me wrong, but with 2-3k an SR is more in that price range. Or you could build a mean *** KA-T.
