its easy, six bolts IIRC hold the shifter plate onto the transmission, that whole unit pops out, slide in the new one, replace the bolts. make sure to use liquid gasket on the new one. you will most likely have to get under the car to get the two PITA bolts, its what i had to do. assuming this is the same thing as a b&m basically.

the Nismo shifter is a solid shifter. maybe at the most 10% decrease in shifting. it is suppose to be just solid.

He means solid as in one piece design where as the stock shifter is two pieces with rubber in the middle to absorb vibration and shock

thats not a nismo shifter, that looks like a knockoff of a megan racing SS. the nismo shifter doesnt come with a base plate either, its just the stick. Heavy Throttle used to sell them, but I cant find a pic of it to show you.

Ok where are these 2 bolts that are under the car? I can see the four that you unscrew from inside the car while I'm under it but where are these other 2 screws?

be carefull on ebay. I saw ur other thread. You need to spend more time on NICO and less time on ebay untill you know a little bit more about the 240sx and how ebay sellers like to dupe people that dont know any better.~Sam

That short shifter is a copy of the C's shifter that is in my 240. I love it, and I'd imagine that one is perfectly fine as well.

do you still have your install instructions? as far as I can tell, the little plastic round ring goes on top of the ball at the bottom of the shifter and then the metal ring goes on top of that followed by the based plate? Is this correct? if so or not what stock parts do I need to use off the old shifter? if you have a copy of your install instructions I'd be most greatful for a copy. thanks

It's straightforward once you look at it.

I am really interested about how you installed your short shifter chaddicus. I am at a jam. I placed the plastic tipped end in the transmission thing with all the oil in there. But once I tighten down the 6 screws the shifter will not move. It is locked in place until I losen the screws but it still doesn't go in gear. I was wondering if there is some special way of putting the new shifter in the transmission thingy. (Not much of a mechanic)
